the youngest man in the tour this year was the first over the top(some ride). he is 21 year old John-Lee Augustyne from South Africa. he had like a 10 secs lead, so it was not long before they caught him up on the way down. when they caught him he tried to follow their line. bad mistake as being a novice to these slopes and Le Tour he went crashing down a hill. luckily for him, it was only shail and he slid down about 30ft(his bike went a lot further). a spectator went down to help him up the hill, where he had to wait for his team car and a new bike.
today Stage was the monster stage, 3 massive Mountains. the last was the smallest, but the most severe with it's steepness (8% grade all the way up for 14KMs). Alpe D'Huez is famous for it's explosives attacks on the steep climb. this is where a few years ago Lance Armstrong(American) destoyed Jan Ulrich(German).
Todays winner Carlos Sastre, attacked from the bottom of the Mountain. he had 2 team mates in the group behind. Frank and Andy Shleck(Frank the wearer of the Yellow Jersey).the favourite Cadel Evans was also with these 2 and 6 other main rivals towards the end of the stage. Sastre is now the race leader and wears Yellow Jersey for tomorrow.
the last Indiviual Time Trial is in a couple of days time. now Cadel Evans knows he is faster than Sastre and Frank Shleck, but the big question is, is he fast enough as Sastre holds a lead of 1min 24secs. experts are saying Evans is about that time quicker(from past time trials).
