You all can still work to move the game along and keep it from staying a stalemate. Remember, 2 people advance, not just the winner. Plus, the one other game remaining is still only in Round 21, so I'm not really concerned yet.
The two active games must finish by September 30th. If the game is still active, I will randomly pick the two players to advance from those who are still alive. Second Round games will go out on October 1st.
yay! I won my first round qualifier!! of course, our game took so long that it turned into summer school... but you still get a certificate or sticker or something, right?
Just for clarification, if we reach the round limit will you go in and check who has the most troops and rank from there down as to who gets the points?

All remaining points are split evenly with the winner receiving any leftover.

the settings making round limits matter, too many flat rate and no spoils games, if you don't have the setting of escalating then you are in for a roun limit game. I've made BUNCHES of kills to try and make the game end, but sadly that isn't rewarded in either tourney value or points in game because I am weak for it.
I can consider modifying more cards to be escalating next year, but I think more of it is the caliber of players this time around (probably because of the bigger tournament). I picked 30 rounds as the limit because very few games of any card setting went past 30 rounds in previous iterations of the tournament. But, if people were that concerned about cards, they could have picked a map that was already escalating or use their one switch to do so.

To me its not so much the cards as to how it is scored. and I'm NOT telling you how to run a tourney, it just may be more fun if on games that will go to round limits, maybe you should give incentive for getting kills, or if you have the most troops you get the most points, the second most, you get the second place points etc. Or you could do something like for every kill you get you get a certain percentage of the points at the end of the game maybe. Just a suggestion
Runner up: [player]geko[/player] (Division 2 - 19 points) There were several players tied at 18, 17, and 16, so the scores were really close. Congratulations to everyone who participated.

Yeah, my scoring system for games that reached the round limit didn't really work as intended. I'll tweak it for next year.
