The tourney is now officially underway! All invites have been sent for the first round. If you have not yet PMed me with your team name, feel free to do so. If you signed up after the last entry needed, I am going to keep your names in the event we need a replacement. Hopefully, if we are allowed to have any more of these, I will be able to include you all in the next one as well.

BIG HUGE THANK YOU TO ALL OF THE WONDERFUL CC MEN WHO SUPPORTED THE CC WOMEN IN THIS! We could not have done it without you guys! A million thanks!
Thank you Night Strike for granting us this opportunity.

Glad to see that this has been resolved - and that mass-scale ball-busting of TDs has been averted :-)

Nothing scarier than a horde of angry women (he says with his legs tightly crossed.)

Hugs to all.

Night Strike wrote:When I granted dazerazer the original permission to run a female-only tournament, I chose to allow it because of its novel approach. I knew of the existence of the female-only usergroup, but I hoped there were also enough females who were not a part of the group in order to fairly participate in the tournament. However, I did not foresee that the tournament would become an active recruitment method (intentional or not, that's what happened since I've been informed that a bunch of new members have been added to the group). And I don't blame the group for wanting to add new members.

CC has had a LONG standing policy regarding the use of tournament privileges for private tournaments of ANY kind: they aren't allowed. This policy has applied whether the group of people was an established clan or usergroup on CC or just a group of friends/coworkers who had signed up together and wanted to do their own event. The policy was established in part because of the possibly large amount of time the Tournament Directors would have to spend trying to keep track of all of the private tournaments run across a myriad of places on the site (many of them in private). As such, we work diligently to make sure all tournaments using the privilege system have as few restrictions as possible to preserve the status of being a "public" tournament.

Under current rules for CC Tournaments, I have decided that having a females-only tournament would not be allowed. This is because the current roster interferes with the private tournament rule and because then we would have to also allow male-only tournaments. However, as Tournament Directors, we also have the discretion of providing exemptions on a case-by-case basis if we see the need. Because I had granted preliminary approval to the tournament to the organizer and because the tournament has brought some new people to CC Tournaments hopefully to stay, I have chosen to officially grant an exemption for this tournament to be run. I have already granted privileges to dazerazer, so she can start making games whenever she has the opportunity.

This exemption does NOT extend to any other gender-exclusive tournaments that may be in the works or be developed in the future. Gender-exclusive tournaments are not currently allowed under CC Tournament rules and will be locked and canceled if they are posted. However, because of several comments from different people, I am open to hearing a discussion on the topic if there is a desire to write a legitimate and fair policy that covers gender-specific tournaments. If you would like to make a case for such a policy, please post and discuss it in a single thread in the Tournament General Info forum.

I understand why the rule about not allowing gender only tournaments. If there were to be a male only tournament, I wouldn't like it and I think most of the other female players would agree with that. Thank you, guys, for being great sports and supporting our tournament, and thank you, Night Strike, for making an exception in this one case to allow it. =D> =D> =D>

When referring to possible discriminatory behavior in society, the cutoff is usually, "those in a clear majority or advantaged are not allowed to engage in discriminatory behavior." As an example, "whites only," "white power," and "men only" clubs are usually frowned upon in today's society, while organizations like the NAACP, various other-culture, or women's clubs are generally tolerated at the least, and frequently openly encouraged.

Min. point based tournaments could be considered a disadvantaged segment of CC. Similarly, non-tourney winners could be considered disadvantaged. Premium-only might not be disadvantaged, but could conceivably be in the minority on a site with so many fremiums... and as many have admitted in this thread, women on this site are clearly also in the minority, so much so that most of us can fit in a single user group.
