I think I've got about the right mix of fake/real names right now: If I tip the balance too much further, we'll start lose some of the advantage of using familiar territory.

The Final Forge period has concluded for the United States of Apocalypse Map. All objections have had their time. The Foundry and I hereby brand this map with the Foundry Brand. Let it be known that this map is now ready for live play (barring any Lack vetoes).

I wonder how many three player games we are going to have with one player starting with all the radioactive sites and gaining 9 on the first turn... Hehe, I'd like to watch those games

On average, one out of every 243 three-player games will start that way.

But I suspect that about two-thirds of the time, someone will take away at least one of those countries before the lucky player gets to even take one turn.

It's all their on the map. Basically continent bonuses work as per normal maps. Radiation countries have negative effect or bonuses depending on how many you have as per the map.
Positive: Great guy, will always play to his best. Honourable and fun to play with as well. You know you're in for a rough time playing mrdexter :) Game 31384 [player]Haydena[/player]
Positive: Mr D is the golden child of CC, if we had to elect a king he'd get my vote! Game 76700 [player]silus[/player]

Yeah, I thought the legends were clear enough. What else is there to explain?

How about what a radiation nexus bonus is?

2006-06-26 22:19:16 - <player> receives -2 armies for holding irradiated territory
2006-06-26 22:19:16 - <player> receives 1 armies for holding a radiation nexus

No mention of a radiation nexus on the map itself or in the legend. This was first turn, so it seems like he just got a free army for no good reason. Might be good to include an explanation of this somewhere.

A radiation nexus is just two or more irradiated countries. The player received -2 armies and +1 army, for a total of -1 armies.

-solution- 3^6 (3 to the power of 6) i think u only did it for 5 counties but there is 6
3^5=243
3^6=729
sorry to all u people close to that 243rd game

I don't get it O.o

In a 3-player game that just started, we all started with two of those irridated territories.

2006-06-29 14:03:52 - niMic receives -2 armies for holding irradiated territory
2006-06-29 14:03:52 - niMic receives 1 armies for holding a radiation nexus
2006-06-29 14:03:52 - niMic receives 5 armies for 15 territories

2006-06-29 14:04:31 - Gilligan receives -3 armies for holding irradiated territory
2006-06-29 14:04:31 - Gilligan receives 3 armies for holding a radiation nexus
2006-06-29 14:04:31 - Gilligan receives 5 armies for 15 territories

I don't get it.

You didn't post a link to the game, but from the log segments you posted, it looks to me like Gilligan started with three of them, not two.

It's game 39030 http://www.conquerclub.com/game.php?game=39030#gmtop

I see now that you're right, he started with three. I still don't understand how it's calculated though.

Man, if this seems clear in the legend at the point we can think "no, no one can ask this, its pretty obvious", why are you thinking fresh people will not go for those icons in the dungeon map? Nothing is obvious to some people, jota.

To Jota: I don't think Sylas has it right. I think my explanation may be better.

To Everyone else: Jota programmed it in a certain way so that it works with the xml language. The important point is that it doesn't matter HOW it's all calculated so long as you end up with the number of armies the little caution sign legend says you will get. :D

That doesn't mean we need to cater to those "some people", though. There eventually comes a point when you just have to admit that it's their problem, not yours.

True, but how many people like this we have here? I think the non-crossable borders in Brazil map are pretty obvious. But I put in the legend... and people still ask "what are those thicker borders?"

But of course, with the info in the legend, no problem... But noobs would go for icons, Im sure.

Are Sanders i Mispi connected? Army deployment circle for Graceland is on Sanders or border is wrong?

Edit: I looked little harder and saw border goes on west again under circle, so not connected.

If you look at the larger version of the map, it is clearly defined. Sanders does not border Mispi. Graceland is in between.
