It has always been my assertion that I believe in people and that one must not be religious in order to live a decent & moral life.

Unfortunately, other's believe this to be a prerequisite and that unless one is devout to some religion (pick one), you are evil by omission and SURELY must be unhappy and "searching" for some truth. Thats what always cracks me up...because it turns out I knew the truth all along.

I think we disagree Glass. You seem to have this eutopic concept of people being naturally good at heart.

I would love that but I think people are naturally prone to wanting to project the image of being good at heart, partially to justify their actions.

While they are in reality kicking you when you're down, taking your wallet then standing on your neck to reach the next rung on the socially contrived ladder of success.

If your wallet is big enough I'm stronger and think I can get away with it.

I win! Take that sucker.

You mean like Jim Baker, Jimmy Swaggart or Ted Haggard?

You also seem to have a rose-colored glasses view of religion being a kind of "pure & good" vaccination that automatically instills good moral fiber into a new recruit. Moral people are moral people...be they devoutly religious or not.

Which begs the question, why argue in a negative fashion. There are, I admit, good and bad people on both sides. There are those who sit in pews at church for any number of bad reasons. That certainly isn't the same as saying "there is no good reason to go to church". Going to church, or even joining a church and professing faith doesn't give you any innoculation against evil. I do believe that truly seeking Christ and trying to work his will does change the believer for the better.
I have said, repeatedly, in this forum (to others) that I don't think your beliefs make you evil. I don't think you are evil at all, you are merely a person who disagrees with me. My attempts at speaking about religion are not an attempt to tick you off. In general, I was happy sticking to the Christian threads. If you'll check I think you'll find that the only times I've mentioned religion at all have been on Jesus Freaks, Fish Club, and this one. That may not be accurate, but I don't think I can be accused of making an effort of be a nuisance to anyone. I certainly don't think I've intimated that anyone was less than an intelligent adult capable of making up his/her own mind.

Great going millej. I actually gave up Conquer Club for Lent. Thank God for feast days every Sunday. Well sundown Saturday to sundown Sunday.
