Classic Map with added options
Has anyone considered making a classic map with the added options found on the Risk II PC program? The six added territories should be a welcome addition to the smaller classic map. I believe it would be hugely popular.
The newly added territories are:
1. Oikiqtaluk
2. Svalbard
3. Hawaii
4. Falkland Islands
5. New Zealand
6. Philippines

It would seem that Oikiqtaluk is a name that somebody came up with for part of Greenland... we might run into copyright problems if we used it. But the idea of taking the Classic map and adding just a few territories might fly - it would certainly serve to accomodate 7 and 8 player games. The question is how much support would there be for another world map.

New Zealand is located east of Eastern Australia and can be attacked from
Eastern Australia and Argentina. It is part of Australia or Oceania.

i believe i speak for most of the ppl on cc when i say that we don't take ideas from grand strategy. thats what they do with our maps

I agree that Conquer Club is superior and it is the only one I recommend to my friends but the Classic Map as found on the Risk II program is also superior to the old Classic Map in that there is more strategy involved without changing the familiar layout.
The World 2.1 map is OK except sometimes the connected countries can sometimes be confusing and has cost me at least one game because of this. The Classic Map with added territories is clear as the blue sky and has a pleasant look.
As far as stealing ideas from Grand Strategy how is using the same map with the exception of changing Australia to Oceania any different than them using the same layout and not changing it?

That might be OK but if too many more are added it could become cluttered. I love it as found on the Risk II program.
could you perhaps get a screen shot for reference?
What do you know about map making, bitch?

I believe one can download a trial version of Risk II. You can see it there. It's a beautiful map that doesn't change the familiar Classic layout.

I was born in the early 50's and probably most people were familiar with the board game long before the internet came into existence. I believe you would be surprised how popular it would be. It adds much more strategy to the original and would certainly make it more suitable for 7 or 8 players than the Classic now used. It would be a welcome alternative to the World 2.1 which can be confusing at times, at least to me.

With the six added territories it would be a second world map that would be suited for 8 players. The original Classic is too small. Also there would be the familiar layout of the Classic and no confusion as to where one could attack? How many would like to see this?
