But it would not be related to anything the cartographer could fix, thus the Bug Reports.

It is xml related. He needs to get rid of all the "&" symbols and replace them with "+" or something else.

& even.

Unfortunately the way Tisha described it, sounded just like previous errors. More details and clarity are always needed. :)

I have had this problem intermittently on a few different maps... it went away when I turned off my Greasemonkey scripts, but it popped up again recently on another map when I was at a PC with no scripts running. The problem has been well documented in the bug reports subforum, and began when the server upgrades were done a couple of weeks ago.

There are eight uses of ampersands ("&") in our XML, and each is in the entity reference "&amp". It was my understanding that the "&amp" will work and I've used it just fine in other maps, but if we need to change it to unicode let me know.

I think it would help. I could be dead wrong, probably better not to jump to conclusions and just tell people to turn BOB off.

from everything I've read about XML references the &amp should be fine, and in the games I've peaked in on the names are coming up correctly. I also lurked on Tisha's games on the map, and everything worked fine without greasemonkey.

I think until Yeti releases the next BoB update this problem will occur on many maps.

From what I've read, it sounds like this map may be among the least buggy of the new arrivals.

I'm having the same problems as Tish with this map. I need to reload to deploy, attack. move, attack, fortify, etc. I also need to reload to make comments to other players. Also, with the Bob script, the rollovers aren't working on this map for some of the countries (north Highlands, Orkney, Shetland) or when I rollover players names. This works on other maps.

Other comments - There are question marks for neutral territories (I think!) where I am not adjacent to that country. It may be allocated to other players, I don't know yet. We are not playing Fog of War but this is how its appearing.

The territories got divided unevenly (I got 13, other players got 8 or 9), but this may be explained by the unknown territories.

It's looking like a great map once the XML bugs are sorted though!

Thanks

Don't now why people on here don't like being cooks, remember under siege: A former SEAL, now cook, is the only person who can stop a gang of terrorists when they sieze control of a US Navy battleship.

I'm open to suggestions.

The XML for this map is dead simple - there are no fancy bonuses, bombardments, starting neutrals, negatives, etc. It's a classic style map. I'll be happy to change Balsiefen's ampersands to the word "and" but I really don't think that's going to fix the BoB bug, as the "&amp" should be a valid XML reference. And for the record I used "&" unicodes in Berlin, and that map seems to be working fine with BoB. Weird.

Whatever the case, the problems don't seem to be screwing up gameplay, just BoB. I'll see if Yeti can take a look and check for anything that may not be BoB friendly.

Somehow BOB statistics do appear, but the BOB menu is not there. Don't know if you had the same problem?

The & ampersand was written as & and it confused bob when it was trying to work out where to write out the hover tags for the countries...

It was the country "Ross & Dumfries" or something!

Found a typo on the XML file... the xml has an extra "A" in the "Lothian and Borders" continent entry. it doesn't effect game play, but we should get it right.
