              Final Forge

---The Spaceness Map has reached the ‘Final Forge’ Stage. I've revived this thread from the pits of the Foundry Furnace (okay, maybe not) and have examined the contents. Nearly every major concern has been addressed. If there are any other current concerns, please make your voice heard. If after a reasonable amount of time there has not been any objection or protest, the map will be deemed finished with the 'Foundry Brand' of approval and will be submitted for live play. As long as there is still discussion or posts that have yet to be commented on, the map will remain in Final Forge until said discussion has reached the conclusion that the map has reached its final and polished version.

Post questions and concerns if any.

did you ever think about my earlier targets comment ?
Don't now why people on here don't like being cooks, remember under siege: A former SEAL, now cook, is the only person who can stop a gang of terrorists when they sieze control of a US Navy battleship.

I did, and I thought I had addressed my reasons for not changing them before, but I'll say it here just in case:
I think that your concern, while valid, is not really significant enough to address, since your suggestion target such a small cross-section of long term site users, namely, those who are so stupid that they can't read the large text on the legend stating what the crosshairs are for. I just can't bring myself to cater to total idiots.

And thanks Yeti ;)

Oh, and I guess the poll isn't really necessary anymore, so you guys can take it down if you want to.

All the army circles are readily visible and it is obvious what names go with them as well as their borders.

The source of light is in the center, loses a lot of artistic value that way. :(

You'll have to host your XML in something like Sendspace.

first look at this in a while... I like the overall look, but I'm confused by some things.

According to the legend, holding Halo gets you a +3, unless you also hold the rings, then it's only a +2. Why would anyone want to hold both?

Is each Shapeness +5, or all of them? Legend isn't clear.

What's the light source supposed to be on the Buckle things? Because on some its above, some its below, and on one the light source is straight on.

Well, isn't that being player friendly.

I believe you mean its missing a certain "somethingness." And yeah, I agree.

My concern over this map has been the same since page three: its a bunch of pretty things in space which can or can not attack other pretty things, while some pretty things can bombard pretty things way across the map.

So basically, it's a nicer-looking version of the Space map we already have.

I think Oaky might have hit the nail on the head there...

It's just - er - meaningless...

Is that such a bad thing, tho? I like the space map, but it is rather aesthetically unappealing.

Besides, we have plenty of nicer-looking versions of the classic map.

This isn't anything close to the space map we already have. The only thing in common is theme. I can't believe you could reasonably say that it is the same.

The maps without the numbers, as requested:

The rings give a +2 added bonus, but that is unclear now that you mention it, I'll change that when I get a chance. And of course it isn't +5 per spaceness... that would be ridiculous, it's +5 for the whole group.
As for the target symbols... I just really don't think it will actually be an issue.
