Thanks. Before I didn't see where to download GTK+, it looked like a earlier version of GIMP. But I got it and it is working fine.

Oh yeah, and this antartica map looks pretty good. At first I didn't like the idea of naming sections after yourself, but it is your map, you can do what you want, (as long as people don't object too much).

Im all up for an Antartica map... And you have good borders and names... (hmm, germanic and japanese sounds strange)
But I assume the thick white lines are unpassable, and the continents are from the colors of their borders... If so, we need discuss it, because many continents are poorly constructed, they have a great number of borders. To make the discussion easier, can you please post one version with coloured continents?

Map of Antarctica

The map is relatively acurate. All the names are real divisions, places, or science outposts in Antarctica. I did take the liberty of slightly modifying the size and shape of some of the ice caps.[/img]

Map of Antarctica updated

Post by Zarg78 »

As requested, here is a map with all the territories in solid colour, including the Ice Caps.

I actually think that this map looks much better than the one posted I posted first. Maybe we could use this one.

By the way, just to satisfy your curiosity with Germanic and Japanese.

Germanic because the names of its territories are all either German or German-based (Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Icelandic) names.

Japanese because the names of its territories are all the names Japanese science stations in Antartica.[/img]

Ok, again, we need
1- rearrange continents
or
2- replace unpassable borders

5 continents (all in the South) have all their countries in borders.

Replacing the impassable borders sounds like a better idea. What did you have in mind?

Something to limit the borders between each continent. In yellow, green, orange brown and gray, every country is a border. Red has 5 borders.

That could make this a complicated game to hold continents. Then again, most of the continents have few countries anyway, but if you want to have a map with a lot of borders anyway, might as well take out most of those uncrossable borders anyway cause they're not really doing much good in the way of limiting borders.

Just a thought.

I would really appreciate seeing where you think the borders should go.

Antarctica Map Improved.

Post by Zarg78 »

Here is the map with some improvements.

1: the central continent has removed and the area sectioned off to the other continents.

2: impassable borders and territory shapes and sizes have been redrawn so that no territory can be attacked from any more than 4 other territories.

All further suggestions welcome.[/img]

I like the one on top of this page best, like the country shapes. The latest has less appeal to me.

Would It Be Possible To Make The Colors For The Continents More, Well, Reminiscent Of Ice? Variations Of White, You Know. It's Antarctica, After All, Not The Carribean. I'd Do It Myself But Paint Won't Take It On my Computer; Something About The Format...

OK. Kyle's looks like a pig lung being inflated, only dyed bright colors to attract young children, and the other one looks like you puked on it, with those hideous colors. It is also boring, and significantly worse than my Italy map, which was also done in paint. At least its color scheme was decent!
