Xmas-New Year Deadbeat Free Zone
I've just had an idea... it -might- be silly, but it might not... so I thought I'd let you all decide.
I know it's going to be pretty hectic for me between xmas and new years, and I might miss out on a turn in a game unavoidably due to other commitments, and not because I'm deadbeating, but because I'm genuinely occupied... My thought was it would be really cool if you could implement something that meant game turns were extended (just for that one week) so that no turns were deadbeated between the 25th of Dec and the 1st of Jan. (or maybe 24th/2nd to allow for time variations). Even just making them 48 hours long might work to give us some time to be families.
I know this could cause major havoc with actual deadbeaters... especially with non-premium players, so maybe if it could only work in games that were all-premium? it might still reduce much of the stress... or maybe it could be not-for [?] rank (under 5 game) players... or something...
Just an idea to try and make xmas easier on all of us. What do you think?

What the hell? I wasn't insulting anyone. Instead of changing the whole site because a few players want to spend the holidays with their family and not deadbeat, why don't those players just stop joining games before Christmas so they don't have to take turns?
Spin, you're still mad at me because I busted you as a multi? Idiot.

i get the idea - it sucks
why should those of us who don't celebrate christmas be punished by not getting our CC fix.
what's next, extended turns for every religions holidays or are you suggesting this option is only available for christians.

it cant be that hard for people not to start or join games for a period before when they know they wont be able to play.
with speed games you can get your fix in that period without adding more long games

I agree. If you don't have the time, don't setup games. It is not insulting or mean. It is common sense.Herakilla wrote:it cant be that hard for people not to start or join games for a period before when they know they wont be able to play.

WM

I think this is a bad idea. I will probably be missing turns also, im going snowboarding for 4 days over Christmas, but i have 3 (ik thats pretty extreme) active games open currently and will not be opening new ones unless some end.
This is just a bad rule, its not fair to everyone, and it wont work well

while i would appreciate the extra time (since my birthday falls on dec. 24th, and then there is Christmas after that), this could be a major problem for fremiums...they may get sick of having to wait 48 hrs for only 4 games, and let's say its a 6 player game and they all wait till the last second to take their turn...that is 240 hours, or 10 days...If i had to wait that long before a turn, i think i'd go crazy...(i know what you're going to say, get premium, but for some this isn't an option, and we don't want to drive away possible future paying customers)
Best thing I can think of is to copy (and slightly modify) something from another discussion on another game about this last year:
Sad? Maybe. True? Definitely.

Absolutely not going to happen. For some people, xmas is lonely as it is
and <game> might be their only chance to get in touch with other human beings.
Aside from that, me and tons of other people couldn't care less about
the day.
Sad? Maybe. True? Definitely.

Not everyone celebrates Christmas.... and then there are the poor souls with no family to be with, so they will turn to their conquer club crack addiction to get them through the day and night. Warm your cold ass heart for those people!! Goodness.
hehe sorry I vote no. Someone has to look out for conquer club addicts.

I think the idea is decent but I don't want it. I don't have to worry about waking up and running to the Chirstmas tree on Christmas. I prefer סופגנייה, and props to anyone who knows what they are. Wow I got offtopic quick. Anyway... I think its a good idea but I would prefer it wasn't set in place.

Hehe yup we'll be needing our fix of CC for sure.
To the original poster.... Just because you are Christian and celebrate the Western New Year doesn't mean that the rules should be changed.
As AK_Iceman and others suggested, don't join anymore games if you are going to be away. Or ask a pal to take your turns.
