Or are you saying that the people are "loyalite" - I think "Acolytes" would be a better word if that's your intention.

HAWK79 wrote:i personally dont think you should make a map about an ongoing war because being part of a military family i know it would offend me and should offend any other person on this site that has a loved one currently serving over seas or has a loved one that has given his life for the war. (i am a part of both groups i have immediate family currently serving in iraq and i had two very close friends killed when the war first started)

I respect what you've said Hawk.

And same here, I dont want a map of my nation on Conquer Club and players glorifying "Operation: Iraqi Freedom"

I can write you an essay right now obliterating every possible statement/ comment/ argument on this war- if you're agreeing with it and if you think it's being fought for a good cause...

Now, thats a whole another bucket of fish to sort through...

But yes, I do not support this map at all... Sure. some of you are going to say "well, what about WWII?"

WWII was fought for a good cause... Men, women, and children all died for the cause of freedom and democracy... Now, Iraq... not so sure about

WWII wasn't fought using WMDs... Now, Iraq... hmmm... ?

Let us keep the sensitive topics away from Maps...

I respect how much time you've put into that map of yours, but regardless, its offensive and brings back unwelcomed memories

Thank you and sorry at the same time :)

And oh, I probably wouldnt mind as much about the map if you took out The Sunni, Shia, and Kurds

Iraq is one nation and there is no bullshitted "sectarian war". Some of you are going to call me insane, but there is no sectarian war in Iraq... Lets leave it at that

So, maybe, just maybe, if you took out the sect's (Sunni, Shia, Kurds) and added something new... Maybe, say, "Oil Provinces" (the south)

luscious forests (North)

And deserts (central Iraq- all of Anbar province)

And btw, the Shia sect. take all of the province of Muthana, Najaf, and Kerbala just for your fyi :P

As will the (ex)-inhabitants of Fallujah, Najaf, Kerbala, Baghdad, Basra, and countless other cities...

Guys that's going to have to stop there. We need to keep this discussion about the map and how to improve it.

yes, regardless of your own personal opinion based on your experience, this map is as unbiased as it gets, without Arabic subtitles.

City of "Name" Province of "Name" (if province is the word we are using)

Now that dashes don't screw up BOB could we do Baghdad - "Name" for those?

As for the loyalty boxes I'm not sure about all that text. I could do another simple Mahdi - "Name" for those like Baghdad. Or the reverse "name" - Mahdi.

what about <loyalty> of <city>. Like Bathists of Ramadi

bahdad could be, "<name> district of bahdad" or is that too long

We can still talk about this. How would you like this all to spell out if I went with these names?

<loyalty> of <city>
<name> City
<name> Territory
<name> (Baghdad)

I'm mostly looking for loyalty here, Bathists, Mahdi, ect. Not sure how you would want them written in that context.

EDIT: Actually I don't like these three:
<name> City
<name> Territory
<name> (Baghdad)

Because they'll all be jumbled together and I think it would make more sense in the drop downs if the cities, territories, and areas of Baghdad all were grouped together.

Proposed:

City of <name>
Region of <name>
Sector: <name>

Cities would come first this way, followed by regions, and then portions of Baghdad.

Not just asking mibi here, anyone have comments?

I like that, although Province might be more accurate than Region

These are my thoughts when i saw this map:

"wow. amazing image there!"
"this one will be fun to play"
*looks at explanation of attacks and bonuses*
" theres no way I'll understand that  "
*head explodes*

basically, the image looks great, but I am so hopelessly lost in the bonuses and attacking schemes for this map that I doubt I will be playing this one in a long time.

I already wrote the xml but lack didn't implement the new code the way I expected him to so there is some rewriting to do.

Anyway, this map is no longer help up by the xml being impossible. You can Final Forge without xml.
