You seem to have at least two area's without names.

You have a 3 letter across with a white square in the middle between 87 and 88 across.

Also what should be 67 down, a three letter space, again with a qhite square in the middle.

Maybe this is on purpose, I don't know.

Personally, I really enjoyed my game on the current Crosswords map, but I suspect anyone who needs the A and D to help them grasp this map, will never really enjoy it. Obviously you've put them in for a reason, (I assume someone elses suggestion). Doing so makes it look less like a real crossword however, and it looks silly.

Good luck with this one, I'm looking forward to playing on it...

I don't like crosswords but I can still give some advise on this map...
For your legend, put the squares in a logic order...

You have bonus 4:
Purple, Orange
blue and pink

make it like it is in the map
Purple, blue
pink and orange

for bonus 6:
make it:
____Green
Yellow and red
_____grey

-I don't really mind for the rest but your attack bridges are bigger than the rest of the squares...
-Also the blue square in your legend misses the left top of it's border
-I don't know why those letters and numbers are in there but they aren't centered and they look pixely (same goes for your title that looks really pixely (actually everything in your map looks a bit pixely/low quality, maybe save on a higher resolution...))
-Why don't you try to make it more realistic...paper like or something special...there are so many tutorials to make a nice looking map out of this...

I could try doing a paper type one but it would mean compleatly re-doing the map (i really don't what to do that) as I lost the file and are just working of what southy has done

ok with room problems on crossword 2.0 maybe it might need to be
put on hold till there are more pixels to the small map before we can move on with this one, but
in the mean time i have this back up crossword 1.1 with 78 lines

i personaly prefer 2.0 maybe it should go to a vote lets have some input on this please people

I hate to say it but.... I think the bonus system is totally arbitrary and very un-crossword like.

A better system that would keep with the crossword theme is to get a bonus per word. With longer words being larger bonuses. This, in my opinion would be more fun because you would actually try to make words and with all the shared borders it could get hairy. Currently you are just playing a different game on a map that looks like a crossword puzzle.

If you explore the bonus-per-word route you would have to change a few things. First reduce the total number of spaces as currently there are too many words and bonuses possible. And second, increase the number of longer words as currently you have a longest word of 5 spaces which isnt very long at all.

I would suggest something like this

3 letters +1
4 letters +2
5 letters +3
6 letters +4
6 letters +7
8 letters +9

or something like that, with there only being two 8 letter words or something.

Sorry for this suggestion being so late in the game as I never really cared for the original crossword map and saw this as just being a boring extension. But now looking at it again, there is really only one way to make this map fun AND keep with its theme, and that is having a bonus-per-word.

Hell, if you choose to stay the course I might even offer up a bonus-per-word map myself as an alternative.

intresting thought mibi, i know the type of crossword you mean word link crossword, where the ending of one word is the start of another thats ok but would need a lot of looking into because you could end up having bonus to big and could end very quickly if held on to for 2 rounds
but i might look into that idea next year

Crossword Map

I like this crossword map. I would suggest outlining the whole word in the bold color rather than each square. This would ease the mis-deployment issues. The squares could be lightly marked for effect.

Over two months since the last post by the mapmaker, so I think it is safe to say that this map is on vacation at best.

the map maker has left this site (there is a story behind his leaving, but im not sure of all the details - so I suspect as of now he will not be back)
Don't now why people on here don't like being cooks, remember under siege: A former SEAL, now cook, is the only person who can stop a gang of terrorists when they sieze control of a US Navy battleship.

Would he mind if someone else took over the map? I reckon I could give this one a go if he won't be back. I'd like to see a bigger crossword too.
