Considering how difficult and expensive it is to be a Legal immigrant I think amnesty is so unfair its not real. My wife is an immigrant to UK and so far it has cost us thousands, with more to come. Courses, exams, piles of documents, interviews. So if there is amnesty the illegals should have to go through the same process and same application fee.
The UK govt is punishing those who go through the proper channels to pay for their bumbling fiasco on border control.

I think we need to be open minded and let immigrants come in to the US for free, no exams, just a check on criminal backgrounds and maybe an extra tax or not providing them services and support that a regular citizen would get (sorry if it's xenophobic).

well here in the southwest and AZ where i am it we pretty much already do that. they pay taxes and get no legal services other than some basic stuff like not being turned away from emegency rooms. we need illegals to do labor citizens won't do. the cops and sharif Joe Arpio are starting to get nuts and are busting illegal mexicans. it's starting to mess with the economy in a lot of states including ours. i'm pretty sure we'll see the anti-illegal immigrant hysteria die down as construction and other industries take a hit across the west and the U.S. in general.

If any of you that say that all illigals should be sent to jail have any latino friends you should know that atleast half of them are Illegal. Hispanic people arent the only alliens in the country, you people are just racist. what he did was illegal but he did it to help himself and whats more importantly OTHERS arround him. What if your house was getting robbed and a illgal cop showed up to save you? would you tell him to get the hell out of your house and go back to where ever he came from or would you see him as what he truly is? a person just trying to better himself while helping what he sees as his country.

how can we honestly say that this is the land of the free if we put people in jail that do good to our community.

which people are racist? we all know there's lots of illegals who aren't latino. the point is that they're targeting latinos.

You don't see any Canadians coming into the country and it's not like a guy from Russia is going to get on a speedboat into America. That's why it's being generalized as Latino. It's 99.9 percent Latino.

Yep. We import a lot of illegal immigrants to run our countries (forgot to mention). I know of many places in my predominantly white neighborhood that have illegal immigrants to run the restaraunts (through my mom).

there was just an NPR show about ilegal chinese coming into the US. they have their own neighborhood in NY and work all over the NE and midwest. there is actually all kinds of folks who work here illegally. there's a lot of latinos no doubt but there's more folks who aren't than many people realizel.

The main thing that is making illegals come here, is that it takes so long to get here legally, that is because the U.S. has a quota that isn't allowed to be broken, something like 650,000 a year. If we did away with the quota, illegal immigration would slow quite a bit, only the lazy people would still be illegal.

My solution: Do away with the quota and make the naturalization process shorter. Simple but effective.

PS: There has already been a topic about this that I argued on, so I'm somewhat experienced with this arguement.

The 3 people who have voted for deportation need to realize what that means. There are approx. 11 million illegal latinos, I don't know about the others, that means a lot of money spent to deport them, then our economy would probably hit some rough stages or crumble altogether. That means catastrophe.

I have this suspicion that you're seriously mistaken if you really believe that the loudest opponents of illegal immigration, eg the likes of xtratabasco, only object to illegal immigrants.
