Map making

Man I am trying to figure out how to make maps. I read all the material posted here but it is not clicking. I tried making a test map in MS PAINT and I tried the 800x600 for a large map and when you look at it in MS PAINT it looks small. I guess I will never get how to make a map.

I was there and just can't figure it out. I don't understand that if I make a map how do you figure out the coordinates for each area. Just stuff like that.

Worry about the image first m8, the xml (co-ordinates) come later

use photoshop or fireworks, paint is not good enough for it
