p.s... I find all these comments hysterical from the same foundry that quenched Doodle Earth.
Unfortunatly wicked, mibi hit the nail on the head with this one.

Risky_Stud wrote:what i don't understand though, gimil is how you can attack this map and civil war about the lines. like jitteryness! and you said nothing on the lines in the soviet union map, about lines when there just as according to you jittery. am i just confused or are you bias
Alright, I've been thinking about jumping into this, and now this gives me the perfect chance.
As for the graphics, I agree with the criticism regarding the legend, the borders, the water color, and the whales. I don't think this needs to be expanded on, the other mapmakers have already explained in detail. The army circles look fine, but the Bremerton circle may benefit from a move.
On to the other stuff. Gameplay looks fine on this (I wouldn't know, I don't think about that kind of thing), but graphics seem to be the problem. I read from page 15 and onward, and it seems like people either want the graphics fixed or want others to not worry about the little things. But the little things are what the foundry is all about. Nitpicking is not a attack at anyone's graphically ability, as others have said, only a way to make the maps better. And you can't compare today's foundry to some of the older maps, as the standards were not nearly as high (some have only five pages of discussion).
I have to say that your argument that "because the map is in FF, it shouldn't be nitpicked" doesn't make much sense. First of all, this has happened to many maps in the past, WWII Eastern Front and Portugal being two good examples. Second, you can't say that people should have commented on this earlier. Many mapmakers, me included, focus on their own maps, leaving the commenting to others. RS, I looked at your post history, and I see that you have never posted on a map other than this one. Tisha, yours is longer, but I rarely see you around the foundry, either.
I agree that a map is a piece of art. Really, it all comes down to, if you can fix something, you should. It makes a difference, however small, to the overall experience of the site.
Now, the reason I quoted you. I'm the creator of the USSR map, and I'd have to say that my borders aren't jittery. This is just an opinion, but I'm sure many other people will back me on this one.

if you guys hate it so much then don't play it, don't look at it and comment on it. shit this is getting ridiculas. like if said the time , you cant please everyone and it's ok to here that you have a problem with it. but as you can tell other's don't and your trying to tell us our opinion does'nt matter!

Doesn't matter, this map topic is not "please explain your thoughts on the foundry", it's "Puget Sound". Let's not debate WHY the map is here, as that's water under the bridge. Back on topic...
Some of us care more than others about the overall quality of maps on this site. That's the whole point of having a foundry.Risky_Stud wrote:if you guys hate it so much then don't play it, don't look at it and comment on it.
AndyDufresne wrote:Developmental maps will be discussed in length in the various Foundry forums, in their respective topics. Cartographers must be open to any advice and suggestions. Be sure that if you do not implement said advice you must have logical reason for doing so. This rebuttal must be stated either by you, or argued by another Foundry poster who sees the drawbacks or shortcomings in said advice. There will be no rebuttals of ‘It’s my map, let me do it my way.’ Waiting for feedback on your map is the one of the most important parts of development.

Risky_Stud wrote:so your saying because she has'nt made a map as good as your's she should'nt be here.
I'm not sure which one of us you're talking to, so I'll answer.
The point is not if it's beautiful or not. As long as a map is clean, crisp, it can get quenched. This map could be better, these concerns could be fixed. It's not about how long it takes, or how tedious it is. The community believes it needs to be done.
EDIT: Sorry wicked.

really Risky_Stud, what are you doing in this thread anyway, you give this map a negative background by complain on all mapmakers that try to help...we just want this map to be good, we want all maps better and better...We are here to help and give advise...
Doesnt it feels better when everyone says "WOW

wicked wrote:Risky, you are NOT helping matters here. Gnome as well. Back on topic! Let's all give Tisha a chance to play around with the map some, ok?
sure...I'm not the one that gets frustrated because my wife's map isn't quenched as fast enough...
I give everyone a chance...
Tisha has some real talent...she made it to FF so that's really nice...
I know this map will make it and that it will look nice...
That's what me and "my group" are trying to say but all we get is criticism...
I'm looking forward to a new update
with love,
Gnome

yes..give me time to change everything i have worked for months.
and it isn't a big deal that i have made it to final forge when i have the majority of people from the foundry telling me that my map shouldn't even be here Gnome
Don't listen to them Tisha. It's not up to them when a map gets moved here, now is it?
You've come this far and will soon be done, just hang in there. And if you're getting frustrated, just think... if Doodle Earth got quenched, I KNOW Puget Sound will be.

you are getting it wrong and putting words in peoples mouths, everyone thats commented doesnt think it shouldnt be here, but rather that its not ready to be here.

wicked you clearly dont understand the fondry. It is the community who decided when maps are moved. A map is FF when discussion on a map slows down which is suppose to represent that the community is becoming satisfied with development. However suddenly we have many unsatisfied people commenting on issues which shows that the map isnt ready for quench and htat FF was a WRONG decision to make at this time.
As for your comment on doodle earth, doodle earth was help back much longer over much more trivial details. You comparison is not logical for acceptable.

Gimil, if you had been following the map, you would've known the conversationg HAD died down and all the mentioned problems addressed.
Again, let's not discuss the map making process here, let's all take a breather and let Tisha focus her energies on the advice you all have already given her and not on defending something she had nothing to do with, ok? If you have a problem with where this map is, you need to address it to Andy, NOT post here. Is it so hard to stay on topic? The rest of the forum does it relatively well, let's try it here, k? Thanks.
