Maybe a different color, one that would go with the map without blending in...
light gray maybe? Right now they look fuzzy where as the map is very defined in its color scheme... :-k

Bringing this up because it was never replied to.

This parts more important! :P

Hi Lanyards, nice work so far. I usually don't like maps of US states because they lack appeal, but Alaska is such a mystery even to Americans that this might work.

You've got the beginnings of a cool color palette that represents an arctic climate... can you develop that a bit more? The yellow is especially bright compared to everything else.

I'd love to see some Alaska-specific features... Denali? Glaciers? Bears?

To the east of Alaska you have the same blue background as the ocean, giving the impression that Alaska is a big island. If you were to show the northern border of Canada you could fill it with a more subtle color and use that as your legend background instead of the fuzzy rectangle, which doesn't really match anything else on the map.

The mountains look like bits of twine... if you're working in photoshop I can suggest a tutorial for an effect that may better approximate mountains. Once the mountains are figued out you can just say in the legend that mountains are unpassable borders and lose the box.

Somebody has probably already pointed out that "Fairanks" may be missing a letter.

In terms of playability, it's very straightforward, which could be good or bad. You might want to add some features that spice up game play... bonus for oil rigs? Control of the pipeline? And if you're going to add oil bonuses, you could also give "enrivonmentalalist bonuses" for controlling protected lands.

OK, these are my initial thoughts. Keep up the good work!

I think the colors are great. You could add Canada if you want but other maps make it look like their continents are big islands too.

Correct the spelling of fairbanks and put this map on CC

It seems to me like the territories all the way on the right in the blue continent are kind of dead space... you have to go pretty far out of the way to take them, and they don't lead anywhere else. Otherwise this looks cool.

You will find that unless you keep pumping out new versions you'll lose your Foundry support. If you read back through the last few posts you have a lot of ideas/suggestions that were made since your last update, whenever that was.

That said, Alaska may not have much appeal. It's not a region that many people have much connection with so you'll have to come up with something special to attract a lot of support.

I think if you did just the city in Alaska that floats on water (or at least parts of it do) with the crazy stairways everywhere that it would be awesome.

Sorry I can't think of the name of it right now. :(

Err, but since this isn't in map ideas, yeah keep going with this.

The impassable borders remind me of Mr. Hanky.
