Election for Mod?
I've just had an idea! And this time it's not one of my random, philosophical/scientific questions that makes your head explode!
No, this one is a top-notch, A-grade, purified idea:
ELECTIONS FOR MODS
Bear with me. Instead of wicked using her "eenee meanie minee mo" method of selecting mods, how about there is a forum-wide election to see who would get that ever-so desired position. Of course the mods now would have to approve, but if they did, then at least the new mod would have been chosen by the people, instead of some competely random person that wicked dragged in off the street. It would be someone already here, respected by the CC populace.
Naturally I am 99% this idea will never go past "theory" stage, it may have been even suggested before. But meh to that.
Thoughts?

for your information the mods do NOT go eenie meenie miney moe. they likely sift through possible mods and evaulate their worth to the site and in several catagories, like levelheadness, how much they are generally liked by the community, their contributions to the site, and many more things

Ok, that was a slight joke on my behalf. Point taken.
But where you said "possible mods", what if they were chosen by us? Say a group of five or six. At least one of them would be mod-worthy, and the mods would pick up on that, and choose them.

I'm not sure why the focus of your argument is against wicked. **Scratches his head, eats a banana**
There are some problems with elections for mods...which resemble a lot like the problems many democratic nations face:
Those are just a few ideas that came into my mind. I don't think democratic election of moderators is such a hot idea.

There are some problems with elections for mods...which resemble a lot like the problems many democratic nations face:
- Voter Turnout -- If only a small portion of Conquer Club turns out to vote, how effective is that democracy?
- Not Researching Canidates -- Going to the ballot box without much knowledge about who the person is, where they stand on issues, etc, would be a big problem. The age old 'Name Recognition' may simply be the only reason someone gets a vote (I.E. a frequent poster).
- Popularity -- Simply put, popularity doesn't always translate into someone being a good moderator. Just because you've got a large lobby behind you doesn't mean you'd be right for the job.
- Problems, Glitches, Etc -- With ballot voting, this opens up the door to accusations of ballot fixing and a multitude of other problems.

like i said, the admins (namely lack, twill, andy, and wicked im guessing) sift through active members and those who are active in the forums and go from there

Perhaps, during the actual voting for the mods, you could send out a PM/E-Mail to everyone. You can do it for games, you should be able to do it for that.

What if we have a nomination like Twill did, and then go from there to the actual poll. Someone who is willing to keep track of the votes, and such. From there, the first post for the poll thread would outline the basics of each person running for mod. Obviously, this would not get rid of all of the problems with that, but it would eliminate some of the problems.

Thats also true, but perhaps a probation period would work? Up to the present mods how long that lasted, but really, it might work.

Yes, but it seems that America deals with that just fine. How can you, as the big bad moderators that you are, not handle little old CC's complaints?
I think that democratic election of one of the moderators would be very good.
I truly believe that at least one of the moderators should be picked by the CC community, not just you guys. Its not fair to us.

This may be similar to kitten's post, but I'll make a few changes...
She lies to us! She deserves blame!
Well, countries like America and the U.K has appaling voting turnouts, and you don't see them doing anything about it! Besides, like kitten said, you could easily alert the whole CC community easily through PM's and/or Announcments.
But that's the point! Because a few posters have posted so much, we know what their character is like, and whether they are trustworthy.
eg: We would never - NEVER - vote Fircoal, because if elected, he will decorate the entire CC backround with Pikachus.
Did you ignore my post? It seems that way. Stop eating bananas!
Popularity would have nothing to do with it. Most posters on here would have enough sense not to elect big posters. And as I said, mods like yourself would have the final say in the matter of who moved onto the podium.
You already have plenty of experience with people complaining about the "fixed" dice! If people do complain, do what you usually do!
That is all for now.

I know! The whole thing sounds great in my opinion.
I think bk.barunt and Rev Kyle going toe-to-toe for promotion would be one of the most amazing sights on the forums yet.
