stuff-n-such
I can understand using lines to denote sea routes, but why don't you just have mountain passes open up between South Africa, and The East American Basin, and the Amazon Desert?
You might also consider having whatever Volcanic Island which has moved into Hawaii's spot, out in mid ocean as a connection between Japan and some portion of your Reddish continent, perhaps Alaska, or the North Rockies. Just to round things out a bit.
As an alternative to your compass, how about having the compass on the 'dark side of the moon' (with perhaps a dead Lunar city?) floating between the viewer and the Earth?

it's supposed to be in the future, not in the past

Tell me what you think of it
And I think I will put some stars in the space around the map, could be nice

Gabrioche...i have to say i agree with elijah_s on the compass and the lens flare. I'm also not a fan of the oval globe...i much preferred the version before this. my reasoning for this was that you had the right elements in place IMHO for the style of map you were creating.
if you are going to use the globe idea...can you make the map look like it has some 3 appearance.

* Pearl Harbour * Waterloo * Forbidden City * Jamaica * Pot Mosbi

just on a strict playability note here, madagascar should definitely start as a neutral territory. the limited number of 'crossings' make for a distinct advantage in escalating games for whoever starts with it. reasoning could also apply to all sorts of unlimited games, although to a lesser extent. in every map there are usually a few 'key' territories such as this but there isnt much to offset madagascars importance here.
had i been wise, i would have seen that her simplicity cost her a fortune

I removed the compass and the space thing.
I put the shadows back
Egypt and West Arabia are put together
I changed the bonuses (no more madagascar bonus)
I won't make a connextion between far west and east, it would be just too distant
Then, what should I change?
I think the bonus are good as is
Same thing for the countries
I'm not sure, this is a kind of complicated map to do...
So please tell me your comment
Thanks
ack
I still think the white lines denoting land connections looks goofy.
then again, I liked the map on the oval better, gave it a nice sense of dimension, so obviously I am in the minority here... it just seems to be losing the coolness factor. Ah well...

Thanks a lot for your comment bloknayrb, I love your map too!
And thank you Piestar for your suggestion. I'll try to fix the white lines across the mountains (I'll make some holes in the mountains instead of lines)
And for the oval thing, you know, I first wanted to make it look like the old maps, a bit like these:
But it doesn't seem to fit very well
Same for the nice compass I made. It was, in my opinion, very cool and well done but most people didn't like it (or didn't know what it is.)

stuff
Hey, if you like the oval and compass better, keep them! Opinion is just that, opinion... if you get a comment that improves game-play, that's one thing, but I really thought it looked cool, and I liked your funky compass too...
You know unriggable, finding names for this map is kind of hard. Who knows what earth is gonna look like in 250 million years...
I know that the actual names of the countries on my map may make no sence but I'm not a geologist so I don't really know how to name them after their geographic situation.
If you have better names than mine, just tell me, (Africa Ice Cap was a very good idea) I also though about naming Egypt "Pyramid" or something like that, supposing that the pyramids would be covered by sand then discovered by archeologists in the future, anyways...
Thank you for your suggestions

I'm thinking calling argentina patagonia, stuff like that. Countries need to go: Ukraine, Kazakhstans, Congo, Mozambique, Nigeria, Libya, Tanzania, Colombia, Chile, Brazils.

I quite like the names as they are. Keeping them as countries gives you a sense of comparison somehow (though i think England should be renamed Britain)
