[5-Nov-2007] New Staffing Additions

Post by Twill »

Well, it's long over due but it is here at last.

I have the distinct pleasure of announcing 5 new appointments on the team, bringing new blood and new eyes to all parts of the forum.

First off, let me start with Optimus Prime who joined us a couple of weeks ago as a new Tournament Director. He's already been shaking things up and along with SteelHorse will do some great things with tournaments.

On the note of SteelHorse, he has agreed to step up to take on the reigns of being a full ModSquad member with all the powers, privs and problems that come with it. He will still be focusing on the tournaments section, but expect his quiet and reserved mod style to show up on a few of the boards around if he's needed.

Another addition to the ModSquad is the little known but already popular jennifermarie. We noticed her in the mentoring thread and immediately knew we had found a good match. Level headed, kind and always out there offering a hand she's already proving to be a great addition to the team. Jennifer will be giving us a more dedicated set of eyes in the suggestions forum, which is definitely much needed.

SteelHorse and jennifermarie have all the powers of the ModSquad throughout the site.

We also have a couple of new, board specific Officers:

The old horse of the site Wacicha has come on to help out in the General Discussions forum and all its sub-boards. Many people know Wacicha as someone who has offered them a helping hand or advice at one point or another. He's been around forever and helps new recruits almost as much as the dice hurt them.

On the international front, I am very pleased to welcome our first international moderator, MarVal who will be attempting to speak a million different languages and fielding questions and abuse reports on the international boards. He is the first member of "The UN" which will grow as our international communities do.

These guys will show up in green on the forum list, but Officers are specialized in their respective forums and have powers only there - any site specific questions should still be sent to the ModSquad or through the help ticket system.

I'm pretty sure that is everyone...for now.

I'm really excited to finally have some new people on board. Thank you to everyone who made suggestions for potential mods, I had a great time hearing about what people like about each other.

Say hi to our new staff members, go easy on them while they get their feet wet and remember that they are, as with all staff at CC, members first, players second, staff a distant third. They are here to have fun just like you, and they are human, just like you. If they make mistakes, go easy on them ;)

Have a good one folks

congrats, though I'm not sure if I believe what I'm saying. Somehow I feel that's it's a bit wrong. I feel that unknown people shouldn't be picked to mod a forum, when there are also good choices out of more people with more posts. Especially when there are people who spend a lot of their free time here. (People like me. ;) )

I don't mean to be a downer, or anything, like that, just stating my opinion. ;)

It takes a lot more to mod than just a lot of posts ;)

yes I know that, but I don't like the idea, of people that don't know anything about the comminutiy to come in and modding. First of all, they'll have to start checking out the forums a lot more to do their job, while some people are used to it. ;) Another thing, is that the more frequent posters, know people a lot better, this could lead to better judgment in certain cases. Like if someone does say bigotry, but it's their first offense and they feel sorry, probably a more active person who know that, and a newer one, would just assume or have to research. Personally, my idea, would be to give people a chance, to see if they can do good. ;) I believe in chances more. ;)

Just stop posting Fircoal, then you'll have a better chance of becoming a mod.

Edit:

And stop hijacking the announcement.

Congratulations, but I can't see what will change. CCs enforcement has proved far more lax than its policy thus far.

As for being a moderator, why would you want to be one?

It's not the people who want to be one that become one... it's the people who are chosen...

It's a bit like MI5...

Congrats to you all, Twill has added an excellent bunch of new faces (calling Waicha new - sounds wrong) and their positive influence is already beginning to take effect.

It would be remiss of me at this time not to also mention the trojan work our existing bunch have done up until now.

Look forward to seeing you all in chat, forum and the battlefield. If I can be of any assistance to any of you, please let me know.
Don't now why people on here don't like being cooks, remember under siege: A former SEAL, now cook, is the only person who can stop a gang of terrorists when they sieze control of a US Navy battleship.

In the language forum & Suggestion forum it will better, coz the language forum there's a little of anarchy coz some mod doesn't speak all the languages & the suggestions is the most posted forum and with a lot of people, there's not enough mods to stop all the "things" of that forum

Only the spammers and nutters seem to actively seek it though.

Those who get offered and accept are just masochists I reckon.

Our policy at CC has always tried to be a hands off one. Most of the mod action we do happens in PMs behind the scenes.

Hopefully we can get to a point where the mod team isn't noticed at all, but we have some work to do before we get there.

Suggestions and the Language forums should see the biggest change from these new additions and with Wacicha keeping a closer eye on the General Discussions, we should be improving our responsiveness quite rapidly.

Hopefully this means I can spend more time actually participating in the community rather than trying (usually failing :) ) to fill all these positions myself and our other mods can breathe a bit easier with the help :)
