I think s.xkitten had the best answer for this (the glass is twice as big as it needs to be to hold the specified amount of water).

Ever heard the saying "Expect the best but prepare for the worst"? These are good words to live by.

I'm back after an all too long hiatus. Real life sure knows how to intervene.

In the words of someone I don't know:
"I like being a pessimist. Either you are proven right, or pleasantly surpirsed."

Whoops
voted for wrong one, actually half full, however i'm a pessimist. I never have thought of this question as a good one to tell wether someone is pessimist or optimist.
I'm pretty sure there's a lot more to life than being really, really, ridiculously good looking. And I plan on finding out what that is.

if it was just a glass and not a question of my outlook on life, i would have chosen half full. assuming this IS on my outlook on life, i tend to be more pessimistic.

Irregardless of whether the glass is half full or half empty, it is still only half a glass making no difference in measurement.
