Haven't seen any PM at all!
Anyway, we did mention in our game with AndrewB that we were on holiday. Since Reb and I were in the US (with just a crappy dial-up link - if we had internet at all) we did not check forum for a few days.
Too bad we got kicked out of the tournament for that, but good luck to all who remain

I have deleted those PMs just 2 days ago, as they were not valid anymore.
You were away for more then a week. And I never saw any warnings from you, not in any games...
You should have let everyone know before leaving for that long.
I will be running more of the similar tournaments in the future. Hopefully you will join!

points carryforward
I think the rule about carrying forward points should have been added before the tournament started not after. Especially since your team benefits the most from it.

This rule was created when I was not leading in the tournament. All my loses happened in the beginning. Why didn't you say anything against it on Oct 22 when it came out? It was midway of the first round with lots of games to play...
It was a response on the emerging tactic of throwing games, just because they were in. And to make every game interesting and count. Please check out this this post
And I am not the only one who benefited the MOST from it. Yorkiepeter - chard also have 8 points too.
At the end of the day I have changed rules several times since the sign up process was started. And in EVERY decision I have made I was guided by the benefit of the tournament, not my own.
For example I personally don't like flat rate, but yet I haven't change it when it was close call to do so after the poll.
Does it mean that you don't trust me in running the tournament impartially? I hope that other players don't feel that way...

I don't Andrew. I think you changed it with ample time left in the first round of play. We were actually counting on a few points -- but turns out we barely advanced = )
I can imagine how time consuming and redundant running a tournament could be. I certainly don't envy you............. doing a great job and appreciate all the hard work you've put into it.

not what i meant
I didn't mean to imply I thought you were running it impartially even though that is obviously how its sounds when i re read it. So apologize for that conotation.
However I didn't say anything earlier because I didn't check the posts as I didin't think it was necessary to check the posts for rule changes once a tournament starts. Only viewed the tables to see what games I was playing.
In the future i just think rules should be set in the beginning and not changed once the tournament starts. This will prevent any feeling of impartiality even if it is not the intent.
I am enjoying the tournament though! But it is very frustrating when you find out you are going into the second round at a big disadvantage because the rules were changed after the tourney started.

I wish, it could have been so easy define and identify the rules right from the beginning. Unfortunately, it is almost impossible. I am trying to do such changes as little as possible. I don't expect any changes for the future rounds.
But I don't think anything would change if that rule was defined in the beginning. Because you were doing your best anyhow, weren't you?
If anything it just makes you play better, and keeps you always on the toes.
