Line of Command [Chained Reinforcements]

Post by thegrimsleeper »

The 2 Fortifications thread got me thinking again about the way we do things at my place. It's a cross between unlimited and one.

Basically, you get one move, but you can go through any number of adjacent countries you control, i.e. Alaska-->NW Territories-->Greenland-->Iceland and that's your one fortification.

We call it Line of Command, and I think it would be an ideal addition to the site.

Sounds like a pretty good Supply Line kind of idea for wars.

BUMP!!!

Thought I'd revive this one, see if there's still any interest. Shouldn't be too hard to code, right lack?

i like the idea, as an option. i think it would add another layer of strategy to the game and thus possibly improve it

I prefer a combination; unlimited number of moves, but armies could only cross over one border per turn

I'd like helicopter fort's ... where I can fortify to countries I can't access via land. :P

I think this would make for a very interesting game. Some guy on the virge of taking a country and in pops 10 more men from the other side of the world. I would be up for an option like this.

I also like the idea of your line of command too. More options equal more fun and more strategy.

Thanks Wachica now I feel stupid.

That may help in my strategy from now on, I was always trying to fight across the world to get there so I could fort to it.

Thank-you so much <:-)

Yeah, for some reason that's what I thought "one" fortification meant... took me a while to realize my guys weren't going to move where I wanted them to no matter how many times I tried.

Anyway, I usually like to shout down "ooh, add this feature too Lack" posts, but this one has precident in the way many people play the game and couldn't be that hard to code. So if anyone cared what I thought, I'd have told them I like it.

Chained reinforcements have been IMPLEMENTED ... like 7 years ago

I normally would just silently move this over to Implemented, but I thought others might be as surprised as I was that chained forts, the de facto standard these days, wasn't even an an option in the early days of the site.

that means it is not a 'Standard' option and should have its own medal ;)
