What specifically presents the challenge for you Coleman? Please xplane.

It's really pixely to me. Tha Maka and anything in Rail Section 1 are the worst for me.

If I'm the only one then disregard.

I think it's the combination of black&white in the text. Is there a reason all black wasn't used?

yes all black was previously used up to v15, then the massive poll, and for some reason i decided to change it.

I'll change it back and see if there is any adverse reaction.

Can you suggest something then?

Bringing them into the cmyk gamut will take the harsh RGB edge off

Mibi...i use Fireworks, and i don't have the capacity in that to load the cmyk gamut palette. I can however move to using cmyk as i do have that capacity.

I'll see if i can fix that issue. Thanks for the suggestion, it made me investigate something so all is good!

Something less Garish!!!

The yellow & cyan are particularly harsh!!

How about pulling a colour from their territory?

C.

OK thanks for that indication of the challange area, i'll see what i can do.

Version 20 Update.

Changes:
1. White drop shadow removed from tert texts - coleman
2. Thai style lettering given to title and bonus title - iancanton
3. Civilians added to the moemorial - iancanton
4. garish colours for POW camps changed to colours of the terts in those regions - yeti_c

Spinwizard - i prefer the parchment text and yes i did try others, but you are the only one to comment that they don't like it

nice update - colour changes were helpfull on the left
but, i suggest taking the blue off the top of the bridge (or make it bigger - so it doesn't look like its bordering the top rail)
hmmm, not a fan of the title and bonuses font either (the last one was good)

1. this is an improvement.
2. first time i've seen anyone attempt this! it feels in harmony with the overall design of the map, though the only other person to comment isn't in favour: is it out of step with the hard edges of the other fonts used? the problem with the font used in the version 19 title is that the only times i've ever seen something similar is when someone unfamiliar with chinese script was trying to suggest chineseness. applying the version 19 title font to thailand is therefore a bit like having kangaroos jumping all over a new zealand map! if no-one else likes the version 20 title, then the only other thing i can suggest is that, given the reference to bamboo jack, the letters are formed from stylised bamboo sticks, to give a jungle feel.
3. thanks for that.
4. non pladuk is difficult to see against the brown of the territory.

cairns, how did u come up with the shape of the map and territories? it's really original and has almost a flower-like look that softens the subject matter.

Ian...i simply used imagination and what little artistic abilities i have....i also have often thought about the flower-like quality, although someone referred to it as lots of flames, and i guess the symbolism is there also. :)

my continuated referal to make the river crossings dark blue and the non-crossables light blue, because you will get people askign if they can go under the bridge (which I imagine they won't ba able too)

Version 21 Update

1. Changed the river section colour under the bridge
2. re-worked the colours on the POW camp titles on map and in POW camps themselves.

in the new resized version the upper right legend case (the one with the title) looks squished. it's not straight like in the previous versions.

also on thing i noticed on the bottom right legend on the brown frame right on top of the word Bonuses there's a yellowish thing.

yeh DiM it's meant to look like a book with open pages. it's the same size as the other one, and only moved inwards to grab that 30 px from the right side.

the yellowish thing on the region legend is how the Siamese font translates in english..it's part of the N i beleive.

I think the "in memory of..." and the flow should be replaced with a short bio of just wtf this map is all about. give it some perspective.

maybe you can drop the memory of to the bottom instead of the URL, or not.

I just think a map as confusing as this could use a little kicker to get the player into it in the first place.

You've been Final Forge ready from my point of view for a while, it's up to the rest of the Foundry and Andy at this point for me. I've got nothing.
