Pearl harbor map
I agree with thekidstrumpet. I just looked at the map and it is very confusing at the moment.

I wasn't aware that there was controversy. I guess I'll go read the map forum and see why the hubbub.
My question - and perhaps better in the map forum - shouldn't any questions of balance and such have been caught in the forging/quenching process ?

I've played multiple games on it so far and have enjoyed it. You really have to pay a lot of attention to placement and movement, that's for sure.

If possible for the next round, I would like to change to:
Pearl Harbor/std/seq/flat/chained
Thanks!
sorry dbz i have to agree with the kids trumpet and others. Pearl harbour is so far removed from the game of risk that ii is really a completely different game with new tactics such as bombardments, that I think it would give you an unfair advantage as most players wouldn't have a clue.

I just sent this bit to you in a PM confirming for the next round:
'm not sure I agree with that assessment - I find it no different than Age of Merchants with trade routes and such. If Pearl isn't allowed than Age shouldn't either by the logic that there are more aspects than the normal risk game. In fact, I personally find AoM far more troublesome to play than Pearl.
I've decided on USApoc then as noted in the PM. Of course, that has radiation zones that affect deployment. Will that be an issue for anyone ?

I would concur that if Pearl won't be acceptable because of a more complicated gameplay that Age of Merchants should also get the heave ho.
Any feelings on this, Yorkiepeter ?
Hmm, I am quite easy on this subject. I have played away games on aom and won, but I do see your point and i don't like the map cos its not really like risk. So if opinion says that it should not be allowed then I will disallow it. But hey, where do you draw the line, there are other non risk like maps....crossword usapoc circus maximus doodle earth to name a few.
Yorkie...in division `10 i played the most games, and won the most games in the division, yet im second?
Can you award me the wins for games that werent played, like you did for hrvat please?

Hey, I can be convinced, but I think the difference between the non-Risk-like maps and Pearl/AoM comes down in the extras. The other maps are still pretty much risk - territories and bonuses. The AoM and Pearl maps add in things like trade routes and AA/Planes/bombardment. There's a lot more to both maps than just taking territories to hold continents. Crossword, et al, are still risk at heart.
At any rate, I'll live without Pearl. Just confirm me as USApoc/std/seq/flat/chained.
I'd still push for AoM to be sidelined as well, though, using the argument above. That's just my opinion.

Many apologies for the delay in posting a table for div 4. A had a leave of absence from CC which some of you may be aware of (score is back to 1500 now...).
I guess that I get to go up a division?
Also I sucked as a marshall, so shall bow out for next time.
And seeing as AoM is now banned (why oh why), I shall choose Doodle Earth, no cards, adjacent, if only to prove that I believe it isn't all luck
Edit - it's not there anymore so here it is below:

I'm in again
I did IM, but just to make double sure, I'm in again with same settings - Div 1.
Thanks.
Thanks.

i have just been pmed that AoM and pearl harbor are no longer allowed in this tourney because they're too hard to understand.
this in my opinion is wrong. why ban maps just because people don't like them?
i don't like crosswords and battle of actium or usapocalypse and yet i haven't said a single word about it and i would play on them if my opponent has one of those maps chosen.
unfair advantage? where? the instructions are the same for everybody and just because some people are too lazy to read or too slow to understand i don't think maps should be removed.
AoM has trade routes and that makes it hard? what if i told you AoM doesn't use any of the new xml features? the logic behind AoM can be applied to any of the existing maps. let's take classic for example.
instead of SA being formed by argentina peru brazil and venezuela. let's say it is formed by argentina alaska siam and ukraine. that's the same with AoM continents formed by terits scattered around a map and wrapped in a logical form. resources and trading.
in this league everybody is allowed to chose any map. just because 2 people think pearl harbour and AoM are too hard to understand i don't see why they should be removed.
what if i say classic is too hard for me to understand will it also be removed?
what if i say all maps except AoM are too hard for me? will all maps be banned and the tourney canceled?
