Fuzzy...i must say this is looking very dark.
Can you give us some idea why you think it should be dark, or why you have chosen to go with the brown background...i simply want to understand.
A suggestion....have you thought about using some latino colours...when i think of Brazil, i think of fabulous latin music, colourful Rio Carnivale, lots of steamy humid tropical jungles, plenty of rain, lots of busy people, colourful maccaws, beach lovers in Rio, native boats on the amazon...all things that conjure up a tropical atmosphere...not necessarily bright bright, but tropical colours and hues.
have you thought about clumps of forest for the impassables? i think there would be room there for them.
Experiment...don't be afraid to try to go places where you might think thing won't work...just giving encouragement that's all.

First, congrats for your new position! it was well deserved.
Now, this pretty much answers a lot of peoples comments, so I will just do all of them here.
1) As I have previously stated, it is a lot darker than it was supposed to be. I made it on my laptop, which has its brightness turned up really high because I game a lot, as well as a tru-bright screen. The combination of the two caused it to look nice and bright on my laptop, but when I uploaded it and viewed it on a "normal" computer it looks a lot darker.
2) The background will not be staying. I just wanted to get the basic feel for the map area itself. The background will be more "Brazil-ish" for the next update most likely. If not, expect it to come soon after. I just wanted to get this draft out for initial feedback (everyone has to start somewhere, so I started basic).
3) I wasn't really sure what to do for the impassable borders, so I just kinda threw something in there
4) As for experimenting and trying new things, I plan to do this as well. It kinda goes back to one of the other responses where I stated that I was just starting basic to throw something out there.
5) Mibi, you of all people should know that "nobody is forcing you to play a map you don't like

New Map! Older Versions available upon request.
I realize it has been a while since an update, but with college now started, I have less time to work on the map. I believe this addressed several concerns from the last update, and plan to address even more in updates to come. I just figured that I would put the next update out so you all know it is still being worked on, and so I could get further comments from the community. I hope this version is better than the rest
Problem: Legend is bland and unattractive.
Solution: Liven it up, and allow it to flow with the map.
Problem: Text is hard to read in some areas, text is a dull font.
Solution: Mess around with different fonts, styles, and properties of the text.
Problem: Background is plain.
Solution: Add a partially transparent tropical rainforest overlay to spruce it up a bit.
Problem: Title still isn't what I want it to be.
Solution: Find new ideas and experiment.
Problem: Impassable borders look stupid.
Solution: Change the current impassable border to a lot of impassable coffee beans (mmmm.....Brazilian coffee
).
Problem: No Brazilian Flag added to the image yet.
Solution: Add a Brazilian Flag to the lower right-hand corner of the map.
Problem: There is more noise on the country borders than I thought.
Solution: I take some of the noise out so it looks nicer.
I look forward to all the future critiques of the revamp, I hope many will enjoy the new look when it comes out.
Thanks in advance

These army circles are too transparent. They kind of defeat the purpose for having army circles.
I'm also worried about 3 digit numbers in Belo Horizonte overlapping the number in Espirito Santo in Central Axis. We worry about 3 digit numbers overlapping territory names, but numbers overlapping other numbers is much worse.
Other then that it looks good to me.

indeed it does. the colors are awful. tone them down. use pastel colors.
“In the beginning God said, the four-dimensional divergence of an antisymmetric, second rank tensor equals zero, and there was light, and it was good. And on the seventh day he rested.”- Michio Kaku
Well, the legend is a bit dark in comparison. I think finding a happy medium between the current legend and the current territory colors would probably help Wisse be able to look at the map without sunglasses. The Fuzzy Pengui wrote:Wisse wrote:my eayes! to flashy colours, dam this hurts...
I was told to brighten up the map, and make it more festive. If it's too bright, I have no issue with tuning it down a bit

I noticed that when I uploaded it....they are too transparent and will be dealt with in the next update
And with 3 digit numbers, I will move the Espirito Santo and the Rio de Janeiro army circles down so that they do not cause interference with any other numbers.

yeah they still hurt
Err just move one down so they can't overlap. I think Espirito Santo would be the easier one to move but it's your project. The Fuzzy Pengui wrote:And with 3 digit numbers, I will move the Espirito Santo and the Rio de Janeiro army circles down so that they do not cause interference with any other numbers.

Upon further investigation of the army circles, it seems Juiz de Fora armies may end up interfering with the Rio de Janeiro armies if they exceed 3 or more digits. I figured that moving Rio de Janeiro may also solve some issues in the future.

Oops, forgot to take that off from the previous update. Those were just my main goals on the last update
Thank's for pointing this out, the posts were edited so that is no longer there

I like the way you chose to use colored font. I like it all except the impassable borders and the background. Not a huge fan of the title, but it looks good. Have you considered using a flag for the background? It's looking a lot better.
Not going to use a flag for the background, but rather in the bottom right hand corner of the map to get rid of some of the free space.
The title still may be changed, and the background definately will be changed.
Thanks everyone for the comments so far, keep them coming
Oh and Mibi, it will be changed and toned down..thx for the idea of using CMYK.

Fuzzy... a little fedback if i may....the green background is too glaring and also on my screen the same colour as the Northwest Region.
i don't know if this is a texture your've applied and i'm not inteneding to be insulting, but the whole map looks it's been painted on glow-mesh...but in particular the mato grosso region....and i can see wide-spread pixelation occuring through the background, and on the red, blue and pink regions on the borders.
The tert names blend into the tert colours also, so they are almost unreadable in some regions.
Overall, i think this is a slight improvement colour-wise on the previous version...heading in the right direction, but the green is very glary.

Thought I would update everybody because it has been forever (over 1 month...wow, sorry
).
I have finals for college this week and early next, but expect an update a few days after Thanksgiving. It's a great break from school where I will have time to work on this revamp!
Sorry it has been so long, I just haven't had the time.
Any more suggestions before I work the afformentioned ones?
