Thanks for that feedback everyone...very interesting! Although how one can justify Pearl Harbor being the worst map on the basis of not knowing about the planes (jiminski  ) is beyond me...perhaps a revision in history would do you well.
Anyways. I do appreciated the feedback, whether positive or negative. It doesn't always come back to the foundry. Hope your games continue well. :)

hehe... what can i say!?

not quite how i meant it but you made me laugh! ;)

All i meant was that the bonus for the planes is a real shock, particularly as BOB is not showing the bonus or giving all the attack points. Prior knowledge gave the one player (you know who you are!) a great advantage.. as the rest of us had no flipping clue what was occurring. Due to it being an escalator game it has now evened out but it took a concerted effort from all players to bring the lad down a peg or two.

Anyway you will see that i also said the game has turned into a good one. Like with Merchants it just a little different (good on your imagination!) so i would imagine people will become accustomed. (that's the limit of my imagination)

Crossword... well that really it a shocker!

Thanks jiminski...as i said feedback is good or bad, whichever...are the bonuses for the planes too high or low in your opinion.

I'm sorry that Bob doesn't show the bonus, but that programming part is out of my league. :(

No worries on the BOB.. geniuses are talking to each other in tongues as we speak!

I am not convinced that the bonuses are too high yet (although i would side towards them being lowered if anything)

The thing is i only have part of a game to base it on (876397 if you are interested .. don't be too put off by the initial game chat)

As the game has progressed we have taken the bonuses into consideration. It may be, as people get more used to the style, that it works perfectly..

i have another game to play on your board shortly, so i will let you know when i have a more balanced idea.

Anyway all i can say is the planes took us by surprise (hehe no irony there!) and caused a little discontent.

I have to ask.

How could you not know about them when their bonus is clearly written on the map?

there isnt a map I wouldn't play really, they are all fine to me.

edit:

played battle of actium but I don't like it because its 2 little continents pushed inside corners, the other continents are undoable.. they are BIG (biggest consists of 15 territories....) and they are adjacent to... everything? so basically the whole battle will be going over those 2 continents in the corner and amount of territories...

HUH??

crosswords exist
circus maximus exists
chines checkers too
kotm is a game
and us senate exists.

the only imaginary map is 8 thoughts

also my favorite map (AoM) doesn't exist in real life it's just something i imagined

i don't like those maps for various reasons:
crosswords - crappy terits and theme
circus maximus - too much luck involved
chinese checkers - symmetrical
kotm - movement options
8 thoughts - symmetrical
us senate - symmetrical

It's a good point... if slightly irritating!
BOB was working partially. you become a little reliant upon the GM script as it is so brilliant (i have 60 -70 games going so any short cut is welcome) . when it does not work, the omitted information can be a surprise.

Personally my least favorite map is Chinese Checkers. I just can't wrap my head around the strategy. A lot of people love it for it's complete balance. That totally throws me off. Which staggers me even more, because I'm a pretty good 8 Thoughts player.

I like 8 thoughts. Hate Age of Merchants can't even be bothered to try and understand it, crossword, Maximus even though they made it slightly better.

Age of Merchants is great, I don't understand why people hate it.

I don't have time to read this thread closely, but I have to agree with people's assessment of Pearl Harbour. It's a terrible movie.

I currently won't play 8.33% of the maps due to extreme map suckage. Mostly the ones you guys have been naming, except AOM, it's the Rox$or.

I don't like circus maximus , never played the cross word or age of merchants and don't want to either. They look way to confusing for this dingy blond to play. LOL
I am in a game on Pearl Harbor map. I don't know if I like it or not. I will have to get back to you on that one. (Depends on if I win or lose.)

I have to agree that there are some maps out there that just don't work:

Chinese Checkers: just too symmetrical, although it isn't so bad for team games

Crossword: Everything about it sucks

Indochina: nice graphics now it has been updated but the playability still isn't great

Ireland: playability isn't great and the graphics could be better
Montreal: still looks crap (why do we even have a map of Montreal when there are so many other bigger cities?)

Pearl Harbour: Graphics and the idea is fantastic. However, there is just far too much happening - can't understand it. Hopefully I will come to like it as time goes on

Rail USA: just far too abstract and doesn't make for a good game. I hope Rail Europe does not get quenched

US Senate: So symmetrical that the games are just boring

A few other iffy ones like AOM and Space but they're all right once you learn how to play them

Don't know why some of the other maps are getting a beating though. I love Discworld and D-Day for example.
