I'm not sure you'll find much advice on weaning yourself off of CC in this thread. Check the Recovered CC Addicts thread once it becomes available. In the meantime, here are some alternate suggestions to help you cope:
Three words: silent reading time. Incorporate this into each of your classes and while your students are otherwise occupied, you can "work" on the computer, "doing important research" or "recording test scores." Speaking of tests, pop quizzes might also free up some of your time to "work" on the computer. Self-moderated group work and calling early lunches will also be helpful. Don't be afraid to allow your entire class to go to the washroom at the same time and encourage truancy. If all else fails, be honest with your students, tell them what you're really up to and offer them all marks and allow them to socialize freely in return for not ratting you out.
All good suggestions. Therin lies the problems, they do not actually tackle the addiction, just find ways to adapt it to my life. In the month since I first faced my addiction I have done little to help myself. My children now call the site "your conquer club." Perhaps they think I own it or won it in a game of risk. My wife has returned from temeriel, but I think is prehaps considering a trip to middle earth to see what the fuss is about. My devotion at the temple of lack knows no bounds, and my one true regret is missing the callout for the 42 person game. I am sure I would have won.
As I climb my way back to captian and perhaps major, I will consider how to deal with my problem. Until then though I will go to bed at 2AM and get up nice and early. I need my truns when they first arrive, that is the only way to win. I guess the one benefit of my addiction is I will not need an alarm clock in the call.
Nah..This ain't addiction! This is fun..fun..fun...You want addiction try some of my illicit, homemade Scotch whisky..now that IS addiction!.REAL sinful ....Cheers!..Oh flower of Scotland (sing along!)
I admitted my addiction several months ago, and since then have been trying to find a way to cut back on games. It has been gradual, but now I cant seem to continue. When i first bought premium I joined 50+ games, and it was awesome. Gradually I worked myself down to about 20 and managed to keep it at that for a month. I am currently at 5 active games with none waiting and I feel like I am going insane. Any advice?
I too am an addict!!!! The first step is admitting it I get on in the am then when i get home from work then every time i go upstairs for something and then before i go to bed

It's far better to have a good time you won't remember than a dull time you will.

Greetings from the Stargazer.
Hi, I'm cyberdaniel, I'm addicted, I've given up 4 other online games just to be able to stay here more, however I've found the limitations of being a nonpremium. Currently I'm waiting like a crazy person for someone to make a move in one of my games. I'm also planing for the day I get premium, a day where I'll have 100 active games (sweet).
We should make a clan and play all games like real time games since we're almost always online. That will make our addiction easier.

omg... I am hooked...nice to know I am not alone...still there are worse things to be addicted to
Only reason I dont go premium is to limit myself to 4 concurrent games
i accepted my addiction, planned to cut back, cut back to 16 games...but the damn things were no cards...they were going to take a month anyways soooooooo why not just join a few games while they fizzle.....then trying to setup 2 games....great partners joined, so i kept them...and kept trying to set up the two for the intended partner....still more joined and i kept them....in all, my sixteen turned into 50 again, and im right back where i started
