Indeed! A whole statistical readout for every player! Number of armies generated, number defeated, players eliminated, who you've beaten the most times, who's beaten you the most times... You could have alternate rankings so you could say, Well, I suck, but look at all the people I've killed... I'm one badass mofo, yo. Man, it's a great idea.

Statistics are nice, but can be misleading.

For the example of a kill counter what do we count as a kill. What if one person (1) alone eliminates 99% of another player (2) and then another player (3) swoops in and gets the final blow? Who would get the kill? Maybe there was a forth player (4) who suggested to concentrate on that one player (2). So surely he had a part in his elimination even though he didn't contribute a single kill. Eliminations aren't so clean cut and dry as is who was the major contributor to another player's demise, so I wouldn't really care for such a feature.

A win/loss record for each game type would be more helpful than an ELO rank and a kill count. But other than that I'm not quite too sure what other statistic would be useful.

stats are grrrrrreeeeeeaaaaaattt

Post by joetalk »

I would have to agree that the stat thing is way cool, however i think that number of armies generated and territories taken would be more to the point than any thing else.
In the case of the the kills of other players we all know that it is all stratigy, if you kill 95%of a persons armi and some one else gets the kill than u are doing it all rong in the first place!!!
that is what this hole game is about and if you can stay alive wile killing, right? so I think the stats would speakl more truth than even the ranking system in use right now. I think things like wins/loss's shows more about skill, and the # of players in each of those win/loss senarios, but who am I to talk, im in placement 784 with 889 points.
By the way this is the most awsome site i have ever been on and it looks like we are getting some real great players joining, keep it good and clean fun, after all thats the point right??? 8) 8)

Joetalk, I'm reporting you for smiley abuse. You've clearly exceeded your maximum smiley count per post.

Dont know if this has been added to the list, but i think another stat that would not be too useful, but fun to see is the dice roll.

Because I know the numbers are now from random.org and they're supposed to be random. But a lot of times, and i know a lot of you probably felt the same at one point or another, it felt like i was getting bad dice.

So maybe a stat of 3atk dice vs 2def dice win %, 2atk vs 2def, 1atk vs 2def, etc. This will show the overall avg of how well a player's dice are.

I know the avg for most people would be around the same, but it's fun to see the differences (however little) between each players.

Well, yes. That's the problem with all statistics. There are lies, damn lies and statistics...

Just look at MLB-statistics. There you have starting-pitchers that throws a great game, but later on sees his won game being blown to pieces by the bullpen. Or a closer that gives up 3 runs in the 9th inning, but still gets a save if he had a 4 run advantage entering it. And don't get me started on the quality performance statistics for pitchers, my God...

So, statistics has to be taken for what it is. But, I like the idea of incorporing more statistics. It can help making CC more fun. And if someone takes the statistics to serious, you can always tell him or her to go to hell.

I totally agree, stats are just numbers. They shouldn't be used to compare how good you are (at least in CC). I think the point system does a pretty good job of that. If you look at a real war, it doesn't really matter how you go about fighting or allying, what matters is your position after the war ends. But then again, that's for another topic :)

Anyway I think it'd be nice to have stats to look at while waiting between round, because, you know, my productivity hasn't really hit all time low just yet

Adam could you use the Suggestion & Bug Report Form? Calling this topic "suggestion idea" leaves us no clue as to what the subject of the thread is.

You know, Pilate, I don't think I believe you... after all, I read at a math website that 70% of online statistics are made up.
