Should Freesytle Speed Games have a point where the last player to end the previous round is no longer locked out of starting the current round?

Freestyle Speed Games Dirty Tactic

Post by Kemperite »

So I played a Freestyle Speed game today. It was the only Speed game up at the time and I had played the guy before. Though last time I don't think was a speed round.

Anyway, this guy ends his first round turn before me. Since I ended round 1 in FS play I was not allowed to "start" the next round. This meant that he waited until the last 10 seconds of the second round to start his turn and effectively locked me out of my second round turn. I thought I could deploy those armies before the round flipped but I missed the cutoff and lost those fortifications so he walked all over me by getting armies and denying me the ability to take my turns.

I said this before speed rounds were instituted, I think that in a speed game played as Freestyle that the player who ended the previous round should only be locked out until another player clicks start OR after 1 minute has ticked off the clock. I think this playing of the clock rather than the game is deplorable and in a 5 minute speed round there should be no problem with putting a 1 minute timer on allowing people to start the round rather than waiting 4:50 to start and denying the other player from having a turn at all.

In a freestyle speed game there is no need since everyone is right there
and there is little to no wait for the next round to begin. In fact eventually, if things go well, it becomes difficult to even finish a turn before the next round starts and all players are active simultaneously anyways.
