why deduct 3 points for every team game?

3rd (present day) we now deduct 3 points for each team game (perfect, NO it's not... it's plenty screwed up... but because ConquerClub does not care to have a scoring system that allows the singles players to see this kind of info, it's all we got) Once again, to really understand how flawed the 1st & 2nd systems were, just read through this thread.

could you at least point the page range cause 20 pages take a lot to check.

the reason i don't understand why you need to deduct 3 points from each game is because for example i played 31 doubles games and had a net loss of 90 points. so not only i lost 90 points but now i get another 93 deducted.

the point is if a guy plays 95 singles games and reaches a score of 2000 and then he plays 5 team games loses all of them for a total of 100 points. he gets a net score of 1900.
so his score would be 2000 singles only and 1900 mixed.
by your calculations it won't be 2000 for singles in fact it would be 1885 which is totally wrong.

i keep an updated xml sheet of my score for all types of games for number of players and so on. overall from team games i have a profit of just 24 points. i agree that for example the points gained 50 games ago in a team game affect my points gained now in a singles game. but since they affect both the loss and the gain i don't see it as a problem especially since my net profit was just 24 points. so that would make absolutely no difference or at least a minor difference of a few points up or down.

What you describe is the way we 1st started this list in the beginning... There really were some major flaws and i am too tired right now to do the searching for you... But let me just say that if you have a better way that does not require tons of effort then i am all for it...

PS- in the example above you would have 1985 points, not 1885.

k i'll look in the thread and see and btw it's 1885.

do the math. a guy plays 95 singles and gets to 2000 points. then he plays 5 doubles and loses 100 points. his score drops to 1900 then when he is added to the list 15 points (3 for each team game) are deducted from his current score (1900) thus giving him 1885.

I haven't gotten in to the team games much yet. In my five weeks in CC, I've played one triples (won) and one doubles (lost), so minus those 6 points my score right now is 2344.

Robinette,
I love that you keep this list. It is overdue as an actual CC scoreboard.

I have an addition for you that should crack the top 5. I have mixed feelings about nominating him, due to a very unpleasant chat with him, but for the sake of accuracy, check out KLOBBER.
His score is around 2600 and I don't think that he plays team games at all.

Trust me any list that rates rabbiton above comic boy as a singles player is deeply flawed, the old 40% system was a far better indicator of skill.

well, i've no idea where you get your info to make that specific comparison. i think i've played one game with you. also i play a lot of no cards and flat rate, in addition to escalating, so it wouldn't be that easy to compare us directly. i'm happy to play a bunch of games on all different settings and see if you'd like.

in any case, i do agree that the notion of subtracting points for team games is flawed, and in rating some people, perhaps deeply so.

for example, if you're holding a very high score, playing both singles and teams against people of the same rank, and consistently not losing points on average in either singles or teams, then you probably deserve around that score for both singles and teams. instead your "singles" score under this system will go down and down... 3000 points with 1000 team games = 0.

so, i agree, the under 40% system is probably better than this one.

Rabbiton
Forgive me if my post appeared to belittle you , clearly you are a good player and it was not my intention to put you down. I simply think its absurd that despite playing about 70% singles comic is penalised to such a huge degree under this system, of course being his father does make me ever so slightly biased

Thanks Jeffrey... he's been added... And a non-team scoreboard is indeed overdue... sadly, i don't think it will happen

And joe, i understand your bias... so you'll be especially pleased to see the change in todays update

current score 2590 - (28x3) = 2506

Highest ever was 2680 or so.

Also in case you hadn't noticed I'm off for a while again guys, college is keeping me plenty busy, plus I've no internet connection where I live.

If you deduct 3 points for every team game you have played then your score is probably below the threshhold, yep I know its weird :D

the previous update - i was deducted for 76 team games and of those games i won 3 points. i got 228 points deducted from my singles score using that system. anyway- i only asked because i was at 2578 yesterday. even with the deductions surely im not 100 points behind 10th place.

You are right cut off would be currently 2294 and you are net 2350.
Thing is Robinette must take ages compiling these lists and at any moment a six player win can add 90 points to a score so its understandable if slight errors occur. In any case these tables are only guidelines, we all know who are consistently the top 3 or 4 singles players dont we :D

You are currently 151 points behind 10th...
A couple wins should put you back in...

next time please do the math and if you're in then post it like this

You are missing mhennigan, his/her current score is 2887 and (s)he has played just 16 team games of 122 completed games thus far all the rest were singles

http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/profil ... le&u=39752

2887 - (16*3) = 2839 which puts him/her straight in at no. 2

mhennigan . . . . . . .2839 . . . . . . . . 2887 . . . . . . 2887? . . . . .#13 . . . 122/16/48

Don't now why people on here don't like being cooks, remember under siege: A former SEAL, now cook, is the only person who can stop a gang of terrorists when they sieze control of a US Navy battleship.

I thought your kid was supposed to be the funny one

2887 - (16*3) = 2839 which puts him/her straight in at no. 2

mhennigan . . . . . . .2839 . . . . . . . . 2887 . . . . . . 2887? . . . . .#13 . . . 122/16/48

Highest ever was 2680 or so.

Also in case you hadn't noticed I'm off for a while again guys, college is keeping me plenty busy, plus I've no internet connection where I live.

Nice to hear from you qeee... hope you're surviving all that academia...

Being inactive means you're not on the scoreboard, so can't add you to this list...
But I know, and you know, and more than a few other people know... so it's all good...
