This map is very incorrect historically... If a country has been christian for 200 years and is a part of the crusades - how can you consider that a grey area?
Norway and Gotaland pagan barbarians in the 1200:s?
Norway became christian in early 1000 - about 50 years after denmark.. gotaland(sweden) also in that century.
and the borders are all wrong - what about eastern denmark aka skane/scania (nowadays southern sweden) ?
The dome of lund is where the danish kept the original "dannebrogen" - the oldest national flag with a catholic cross!
..but it´s barbarian and belonging to Gotaland in this map..
and whatabout bohemia/moravia? larger and more proper kingdom than pomerania..
there was of course no real polish kingdom at the time but to give all that land to a small duchy seem very strange..
there must be a better solution for playability than make denmark and hungary neighbours cause it sure isn´t even remotely correct.
IMHO I think you need to do more research and look at more maps.
Qwert, look here for example: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of ... 38-1295.29
There was no polish kingdom or unified Poland at the time.

I agree with you 100% and I couldn't have worded it better.
the additional XML options that came out a few months back could be used to make this map unique - otherwise it's way too similar to the europe map. You could have everybody start in europe and start the 'infidel' lands neutral, so everybody scrambles to go after big bonuses for controlling Tunis, the Holy Lands, Constantinople, etc. You could set it so that controlling a combination of holy sites - Rome, Jerusalem, Santiago de Campostela, etc - means victory and end of the game.

NEW MAP
let the games commence - any comments welcome...
catholics 4 armies
islamic 4 armies
orthodox 3 armies
mongol 3 armies
pagan 3 armies
jewish 2 armies (countries marked with star of david)
all these religions were battling it out in europe in 1200ad
the crusades
if you own at least one of the above religions then you get an additional army bonus of 2 for holding Papal States or Holy Lands (and 6 armies for holding both with a religion)
note - the carpathian mountains are impassable.

Re: NEW MAP
The Papal States occupied Central Italy, not Central and Southern. Sicily had control of it.CHAMPOS wrote:let the games commence - any comments welcome...

qwert wrote:Can you give me explanation for Vlachs terittory,i can not find these country in wikipedia.
i think vlachs is wallachia, which becomes romania in later years. from 1185 to the time of the fourth crusade (1204), the vlachs and bulgars were united under a single kingdom, led by the vlach brothers peter and asen. this ought to be one territory, not two.
http://kroraina.com/bulgar/wolff_3.html
the most important political formation on the territory of the old Bulgarian Empire was the loose conglomeration of Balkan peoples in revolt led by the Vlachs Peter and Asen.
