I'm working ot territory lines but its getting quite annoying

as for england and ireland, the map doesn't need to be bigger, its got a good territory count and i'm not too sure about larger maps.

agreed. this is already a good map, which u’ve obviously based on the traditional scottish counties rather than the modern council areas. a few suggestions, if i may.

apologies if u’ve already discussed this to death, but i suggest that we ought to be consistent regarding the use of the shire suffixes. in particular, i believe that the merged county of ross and cromarty, since its creation in the 19th century, has never been known as the county of ross-shire and cromartyshire.

although berwick, as someone said, is now in england, berwickshire is in scotland. if u remove all of the shire suffixes, then berwick becomes logical and correct.

roxburgh does not have a u between the r and the g.

if u want to include the shetland islands for completeness, then the shape of the map means that we have space to include them as a group of islands to the right of the orkneys instead of above them, with a connection only to the orkneys and nothing else. to use the shape of the screen better, the north sea below the shetlands and to the right of the scottish mainland can then be used as the location of the bonus key (moved from the top left) and image of the warrior (which i like).

to increase realism by encouraging more play in the economically-important areas and less in sheep-rearing country, perhaps we can show the locations of the four big cities - dundee (in angus), edinburgh (in midlothian), glasgow (in lanarkshire) and aberdeen (in aberdeenshire) – with the gameplay being totally unaffected except for there being a bonus of one army for holding any of these counties. if i recall correctly, there is a similar device on the china map (also in final forge).

keep up the good work.

ian. :)

What about the Forth, Tay and Skye road Bridges? Might be a nice way to like together those regions.

Also would be nice to have some sort of ferry theme linking the islands together?

Nice ideas people.

Sorry about not doing much for ages-ive been on holiday for a long time, I'll try to get started again.

Ian, i'll get those mistakes cleaned up as soon as possible. Do people think it would be better with all the -shire suffix's or with none of them?

I had thaught about inverness but i think its best to stay at four, otherwise they will be too hard to get (stirling is right next to glasgow and i want to keep to one town a continent)

for an uncluttered look, especially if u have plans to use a fancier font in production, i have a slight preference for no shire suffixes, although the latest version is perfectly acceptable, except for one inverness-shire having a capital S in shire and the another one having a miniscule s.

the way u've done the cities, with a bonus only if all of them are held, is better than my initial suggestion.

perhaps u can re-draw the black border to make it clear whether kinross is connected to fife, maybe by altering the shape of the forth estuary.

on a similar note, try adding or removing a hill to avoid doubt as to whether lanarkshire can attack midlothian.

i'm really looking forward to seeing the map move toward the finished article!

how about +1 for each city, and they start neutral?
maybe the country around them could start neutral as well

I think the city bonus is a bad idea in any other map it never palsy a great part in strategy

Okay, just a small update this time.

Image
Changes
*Lower-cassed the S in shire in E. Inverness
*added mountain to block perth-midlothian boarder
*altered kinross boarder to connect with fife
*added texture to 3rd uist island (dont know how that got left out)

Still to do
*Decide finally about shire-suffixes
*Decide about cities (ive kept them the same bonus for now because taking and holding them as none are very neer each other would be hard; I dont think i'll make them neutral as in real life they were always the centre of political power; Gimil, i didn't Quite understand what you said)

ok IMO this things need change

-Font try something a bit curly so its easy on the eye
-Colors, try pastels which are pleasant on the eye
-Mountains look low quality maybe ask some people how they done there mountains :)

try first to do the graphics before you do the playstyle it really helps later on

I'll try a few ones out in the next edition-i wanted to make sure the names were right first

-Colors, try pastels which are pleasant on the eye

I'm trying to make the map in colours that have a scottish feel, meanig slate blues and greens. but i may lighten them a bit

-Mountains look low quality maybe ask some people how they done there mountains :)

good idea, Good map makers, how do you do your mountains- remember i havn't got photoshop.

try first to do the graphics before you do the playstyle it really helps later on

I had thaught it was better the other way around-getting the gameplay fixed so that there arn't any major changes that screw up the graphics. Anyway, i'm pretty happy on gameplay now so i can concentrate more on graphics

however said this is an idiot (no offense) no point getting nice graphics to destroy it to change game play.
