maps you hate...

... or ones you have the worst luck on.

i'm sure this had come up before but i feel the need to bring it up again.

for me it's age of merchants. i've had nothing but bad luck on this map, and because of this i hate it with a passion.

the last game i played on it was just after it was quenched, but i decided to give it one more chance, 2-player style. the end result? nothing but misery. my opponent started with a bonus and proceeded to rape and pillage.

never again.

so, if you share a similar hatred for a particular map, please share.

I just recently got over my hate of the British Isles. Well... The map anyway.

I am not a big fan of Age of Merchants either. Those bonuses make absolutely no sense to me, and apparently they do to everyone else.

I like the game play on Age of Merchants, but I never play it because it has a huge code and it takes while for my greasemonkey to read it.

Also, I hate world 2.1 because, its so huge, and it takes forever to kill someone off, and if your losing, it takes forever to get put out of your misery.

i hate:

1. AoM - confusing as hell, optimus, ur not alone in that

2. siege - bad luck, nuff said

3. world 2.1 - 1 word, BIG

4. middle earth - not a fan of the map, or the movies

Apparently DIM has made an excellent map (whenever so many people HATE something - it's either very good or very very very bad).

Age of Merchants is actually fairly self-explanatory. You just need to adjust your 'Continents at all costs' mind-set.

More maps are going to require thinking differently.

My favorite maps:

1. Age of Merchants [self-calculate strengths, BOB is off]
2. King of the Mountains [BOB is on]
3. BeneLux [I don't have a particular strategy here, but I've won several times (not exactly sure how)]
4. World 2.1 [BOB is a MUST, favors the more aggressive player]

My least favorite maps:

1. Crossword [overlaps cause confusion (i.e. lots of mis-deployments), and bad luck]
2. Asia (FAR EAST) [mainly because I can't seem to win, once I win a few - it will be upgraded to normal]
3. ANY Map I have a 'considerable' LOSING record on [2+ more losses than wins OR win percentage 25%+ less than of what it should be for settings]

I know, but
1. Grease monkey makes things easier and I'm lazy
2. It is very long and tedious to calculate the bonuses for the AoM map

Space - don't like it, no reason
Indochina - too small and no space at all for strategy
I don't even bother trying Valley of kings or age of merchants. too lazy to figure out if underworld E = tombs +explorer+ament or where the heck they are on the map..

As you can see, im not a fan of alot of maps here. No offense to the creators at all, im sure it was alot of time and effort, but on each map theres at least one thing i cant stand. I stick with the basic maps that i can tell where everything is going on.

I dislike AoM too. I don't like it because you have to learn the whole new way of doing it and I'm lazy. But I give thumbs up to the fact that he tried to make it a new way to play.

Valley of Kings and Crossword. No enjoyment. Bleah.

Circus Maximus I don't have an interest in trying again, even though I managed to pull off the escalating elimination win the one time I did.

I like AoM. Only took one full game to figure out the bonuses. Requires a lot of attention to detail before attacking.

Siege is my favorite. I just like the layout.

I don't really like Age of Merchants, thanks to the weird bonuses. I've had some bad luck on Benelux and Africa, but they're both terrific maps so I like them anyway

I'm surprised some people said Space...I love that one. I've been winning a lot of games on that map...it's best with No cards.

well i really just like the classic one and the world 7.0 one but the one i rally hate is Circus Maximus.
