POINT GRABBERS III [CHAMPION: Godd]

Post by Optimus Prime »

Point Grabbers III Tournament

Alright folks, are you ready for the third installment in the Point Grabbers series of tournaments? The first 16 players to sign up are in. I'll accept up to 4 reserves just in case someone drops out or does not show for their first game.

I have also mixed up the maps a little to give us a bit of new flavor this time around (see below). I have also automatically included the current reigning champion, reptile, so that he may have the chance to defend his crown.

This tournament will feature 1 vs. 1 games with Flat Rate cards and Chained fortifications (in order to eliminate the 'first turn' advantage so thoroughly discussed in the forums).

First Round: Africa, Flat Rate, Chained
Second Round: Alexander's Empire, Flat Rate, Chained
Semi-finals: USA, Flat Rate, Chained
Finals: WWII Eastern Front, Flat Rate, Chained

First round play will be seeded 1 through 16 based upon current score at the time registration is full. You must have a point total of at least 700 points at the time of sign-up to participate. PM's will be sent to all players announcing their games when play is ready to begin. All players will have 48 hours from the time a PM is sent to enter their game.

Any players may join, premium or non-premium however, play will be scheduled to start no later than 72 hours following the completion of registration (possibly sooner) so any non-premium player will need to have one open slot by then.

Reserve players will be accepted in case of anyone taking more than 48 hours to join their appointed game.

The point of this tournament is to give some lower ranked players the chance to prove their skill and grab a few points from others to try and gain some respect. Because it is single elimination you really will have to be good to win and if you do, nobody can claim you won't deserve the points you earned.

Think about it, at worst you lose 20-25 points, at best you walk away with something like 80-100 added to your score. It seems like a good idea to me!

Reserves: AfroDwarf and Strider24

The seeding is determined by everyone's score as of 1:02pm on August 15th. The only thing we are waiting on at the moment is confirmation from reptile that he wishes to defend his title. If not, I will reseed accordingly with a new bracket before creating the games.

Hmmm,

I don't see OPie's name on the list - guess that means I have a chance (considering he just wiped the floor with me).

Is the seeding random, by the order in which we sign up, by our point totals, or by some kewl OP algorithm [negative points for using math words]?

EDIT: Maybe I should READ the rules before posting - I know how it's seeded now.

Yeah, I am going to stay away from playing in my own tournaments for the next little while, except for Transformers Wars II, because school starts up again in about three weeks, and I figure, focusing on the tournaments would be better than having to play tons of games.

I think you accidently missed 2 posts at the bottom of page 1 - Gozar and Night Strike have already signed up, but you forgot to put them on the list.

Ah, I see, somehow I got fastposted or something with that. Gozar and Night Strike get the last two spots, Strider 24 and AfroDwarf are the 2 reserves in case someone doesn't show up for their first game.
