so someone who played terribly but managed to scrape by and get a few lucky cards is able to wipe out three other players who played much better than him. gee WHAT A FANFUCKINGTASTIC GAME TYPE. this bullshit makes a mockery out of global domination.
btw, i love how i can say fucking, but not f*ck in the post. and can say anything at all in the thread title. high five for consistency.

Excuse me sir, considering this is General Discussion, you aren't allowed to swear.
Therefore, I have edited your first post, to make it more PG-13
By the way, when this gets moved to flame wars, I'll be the first to tell you off
Thanks, and good luck,

I've won escalating games being the weakest....
thats why escalating is so dangerous to play...it can turn in an instant

well if that was the original version of risk it must have been terrible. but ok, no more complaining, but questioning.
is that how the game type is supposed to be played? completely based off of cards?
if you can be the weakest and still beat everyone "in an instant" where does skill and tactics come into play? is it just whoever successfully wipes out the other guy with 2352532armies or what? gee, that is deep.

DOH!...
this is the best answer....

Seeming there are different styles of cards.
Escalating, where the cards go 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 16, 20, 25 etc etc.
Flat rate -
red cards = 4
green cards = 6
blue cards = 8
mixed cards = 10
No cards.. Exactly what it says.

Did you consider that maybe he might have played a lot better than you guys since he managed to win the game?
The main difference between weak and strong players in escalating is that strong players know that holding continents and lots of territories means almost nothing... it's all about cards, positioning yourself to wipe out opponents and take their cards. If the game rules suit a particular style of play, then your strategy should align with that play... to do otherwise is in fact "playing terribly" as you put it

hahahahahaa
escalatings a brilliant game. some people still go for a continent thinking they are in a stronger position, wrong. if australia or SA fall in your lap fair enough take it. its about who to take out next for their cards. the more the merrier so you can cash in again and again. i`ve cashed in 6/7 on the trot to win a game.

It's amusing what becomes entertaining with some drank in me.
Brief recap of my brief time in Conquer Club.
Rediscovered risk. Applied liberal aggression>indecisiveness. Won some games. Overextended and lost some games that I had had on lock.
Seeking skill, chased the highest ranked players I could find into games. Learned some lessons. Developed a taste for Flat Rate. Planning turns two, three, moves ahead seemed to have greater impact; giving the impression than skill would benefit more than in escalating.
I find success mowing down low ranking opponents in 6-player matches. My points propel me up into the range I should be competing in quickly. I begin attracting opponents on an equal footing. Suddenly each match sees armies on the board escalating past 150, 200, 250.. Lesson Learned: What kills players in Flat Rate is allowing oneself to be wiped out in one turn. Prevent this, and inevitably a match will draw on until two players team up against the same opponent or lady luck graces a player with a visit.
In round about fashion I now appreciate the skill of Escalating. The sun does shine on a dogs ass every now and again. Once one elevates to the level of orangutan however, at least talent won't lead to deadlock.

Because someone appears to be the weakest doesn't mean they were. I always lay back in escalating games to make myself less of a target and then when cashes become gold I cash and take out the player with the most cards, cash again (or twice) and go down the chain.
I am serious...and don't call me Shirley.
You took a risk letting a weak player with min 3 cards live ... should have killed him and taken the cards
perhaps you weren't able to make the kill, but you knew what the cards were worth so why act surprised?
And Kerosion, yeah some for me
I was mainly into flar unlimited games before, untill a time where most of them ended into stalemate. At the moment its all escalating for me.

it's not only based off cards. if you play 1vs1 scalating, it's probably due to the dice.
Believe me, you can find a lot of things to bitch about on this site, but the way escalating works is probably not your best bet
