Maybe make like 5 different maps in the eyes of different races. All exactly the same gameplay, just make the map look like how you think that race would see a map of it. Maybe the Katarians' map could be written on paper a sloppy text, and say "New Kataria". The Human's map could be like written like a type writer with a few logos on the top (to avoid copyright issues make up futuristic companies).

"Large Katarian Map"
"Small Katarian Map"
"Large Corporation Map"
"Small Corporation Map".

that would take a lot of work, but it could be pretty cool.

What about a map of like the NFL Stadiums...you could break in up into divisions like the NFL each division is worth 3 or 4 bonus..You could also do one for baseball and basketball even hockey

there is a baseball

we understand your point keyogi but you also must understand ours. it's impossible for so many people to work properly without posting in the same thread.

A map needs a maximum of two people working on it. If there's more, then that's all your own predicament.

Take it to PM or email, it's how I have shared map ideas, images and info with many other members.

I'm not sure this is a good fight to be having. I have to ask though. I don't understand why these are the rules and we can't use the forums for this discussion. It is on topic with forming a map idea from my perspective, but I'm a dumb American, so... I dunno.

We have I think, 6. It's hard to keep track. I guess we could try to form this discussion somewhere else if you really insist. I don't want to get locked down.

it's 3AM at my place it's really hard for me to be online at the same time as the other guys. doing this in a thread has the advantage that anybody posts and the others see when they come online.
all the talks are kept for future reference.

if this were moved on pm then it wouldbe mayhem. i would have no idea what others are talking and by the time i come online and see my pms i'd probably miss a lot of discussions.

if you can come with another solution that keeps track of all talks and images and it's available at all times i'd be more than happy to adopt it.

Use email and send copies to everyone involved. It's how it's been done in the past.

imagine me sending 1 email to 5 other people to show the space station pics.

then gimil responds and we exchange 10 emails discusing the pics.
now i send those 10 emails to all the others. te coleman has an opinion on the space stations and on gimil's comments and we exchange 20 emails between the 3 of us. then i send those 20 emails to the rest of the participants.

and when telvannia comes and reads his email he finds 30+ in his inbox. that's crazy.
i agree if 2 people are working on a map emails can be used but with more people it's outrageous.

I agree that I did like the start of this idea, but it's getting tough to follow now. E-mails and other such would be the best for collaboration, but Keyogi and I agree that since it is the Map ideas, you can keep production going this way, and further on in the thread go with a unified map and idea, you might just have to let everyone know when that is.

Yeah I agree with the WTF, they take one of the most important picture posts and delete it. :x

Since someone is confused and deleting posts, here is the current status of the abstract map idea we should be able to discuss freely in the creative medium of the forums until it is out of Map Ideas. I'll periodically do this so nobody is confused...

Waiting On

Space Stations and subsequent information. (DiM) I would like these to be in the forum so people outside the cartography group can comment on them.

Better Planet (Wac or Tel) Also want in the forum for the same reasons.

As always, constructive feedback, suggestions, and ideas.

Currently Have

Poor Draft which these objects I'm waiting on will be inserted on (Gimil)

Two race stories fleshed out to give the map a bit more flavor and meaning (Coleman) These will soon be ported to my own site along with the other ones as they are finished.

I deleted your posts. I'm sorry I didn't take your fragile feelings into account and give you a detailed PM about the reasons why I removed your posts. I think it's pretty bloody obvious why. Just get your act together guys before you turn the foundry into a circus.

Please explain how this was helpful to the foundry and the process of making this map. If you can't I hope you figure out how to undo your meddling. If this is some attempt to set an example it is a poor one. You should take action against actual abuses of the foundry instead of punishing a single map for all of them. I can't help but feel you are enforcing unnamed rules to make yourself feel more important.

From my perspective this was Andy giving us the okay to continue to collaborate in the fashion we had been. He indicated you both agreed on this until we had a working map. Since we don't currently have a working map I am further annoyed and flabbergasted by your moderation and deletion of important data.

As of this moment I am wasting my time rescuing as much of the topic as I can since I can't really predict what you might do next.

EDIT: I've got what I needed, you can probably delete the whole topic now for all I care, I'm taking it somewhere else where we can hopefully get something done.

To Helpers
Lost images I need back are DiM's space stations and the corporate logos for companies owned by countries other then the US. PM them to me.

Two of the people posting images have already received a number of warnings not to do so. The only people inflating their ego are the likes of DiM who seem to think they are above advice and recommendations.

The comments from Andy came after our discussion and after the posts had been removed. We both stand firm on this issue... swapping of images and development of a map between members before it's actually a map is best done via PM or email. If you guys can't figure it out, then find a dummies guide to email or something. It's really not that hard. I've said a number of times this is how I work with others. Look at WidowMakers and cairnswk with Rail USA... they're not clogging up a development thread with useless posts to each other.

However, the joint decision has been made. Go ahead and continue your little discussion and image swapping in this thread, but I suggest you give the thread a new title so unsuspecting members don't enter the thread looking for an actual map. When you've got an actual map to show everyone, let us know.

I've had my fill of stupidity in this forum, grow up guys. Seriously. And if any of you think I'm using my moderator powers unfairly, take it up with Andy or Lack. I'm only here to help, help keep the Map Foundry running smoothly and churning out maps.

You have to understand from our perspective you were power tripping. I understand you feel you're doing the right thing, and I respect that. Plus if Andy is with you on this I have zero room to argue. The problem here is that with most maps there is 1 or 2 people. This had 6 at one point, and there was just no way to do that constructively in this environment.

But seriously though, DiM is going to probably need to re image shack all of those. I wish we'd saved the html locations. I'm still not sure what rule you were enforcing and where it says post deletion is a consequence of posting lots of pictures. I don't recall any posts before ever being deleted. Anyway, have a nice life, I'll probably see you again in other topics. Or when we get a real map together in a new one for this.

Oh, and I'd like to 1v1 you, any map settings of your choice.

It´s been suggested several times and I think there might still be some in pre-production..? but no drafts posted yet.

I hope someone will make one.
abandoned my attempt at a WW1 map before I even posted the idea..
