Map of Moscow Subway System

Post by Honibaz »

Moscow Subway

I've looked at the map of it before and it's huge! The continents could be the name of the line and you can get bonuses if you hold the transfer stations! A great map if someone could make it!

A subway map of a city would be great. One has already been attempted, but stopped due to copyright reasons. But i think the New York City subway system would make a better map

How would this be different than any other map, except that is of Illinois? What would be unique about this?

That is the point. Illinois is where I live. There is a wide variety of landscape and history associated with the place.
Right now, I have a digital map somewhere of all the counties of Illinois. It was useful for me to re-learn all of the county names and where they are located.
If you look at the map you can see where the major population centers are. Politics is a vibrant and popular sport around here. Chicago is a major metro area in the US.
A lot of the income from the state perspective is from mining and agriculture, along with the usual type of financial income.

Colonization [ABANDONED]

Post by Coleman »

Colonization

This has been reworked at Andy's suggestion. He's good at calming me down. *muches on his cookie*

This is a work of <5-6 Cartographers> in very early development trying to get a unified idea. Once we have that discussion will proceed in a less frantic fashion with more community involvement. We would still love to hear from community members at this stage of development if they aren't afraid to dive into the madness.

I would like to request that the cartographer harassment of the moderators cease in this topic at once. Don't edit or delete your posts, I don't like rewriting history, but lets move forward in as friendly a way as possible. It's not good to pick fights with people that can delete your house.

There is also discussion here:
http://www.conquerclub.com/forum/viewto ... 728#606728

I expect this discussion in off topic to continue as well. It is interesting hearing from people that don't normal contribute to this section of the forums. Also I have a nifty image link tree in there.

Basic Idea.
1 Major Planet where play will be.
6 alien races around the planet in their respective mediums ready to move into the planet and fight over it.

More Ideas. (That I LIKE)
Hexagonal space plot style territory shapes over good 3d graphics.
No continent bonuses (maybe) mostly strategic spaces.
Alien orbital positions can attack a wide area near their landing zone, not just one territory. However only one territory can attack the orbital alien position. Might make this bombardments everywhere but the spot that directly connects to the ship/station/platform/worm hole/giant ice cream cone.

I liked the look of that new world map :( sorry to see it abandonned. This one looks like another good idea too as long as the set up isn't completely symmetrical.

Coleman, thanks for considering me in the list. I very much appreciate that.

Questions if I may:
1. How many terts were you thinking of having?
2. Do you want standard army shadows?
3. Do you envision the planet having oceans with dividing continents?
4. Do you want a standard RISK type map or are you open to something like hexagons I used in Actium? Or even a combination of differnet styles if they work together?
5. Any preferences for a colour scheme? like white and greys for space ships etc.

I can do other types of station but this is the style and quality.
(although this was a very quick drawing)

I could make a planet for this. Not the map, just a planet and moons and stars and that kind of stuff. I would give the PSD file for the planet i make to whoever is doing the map-making part. I can just make the image that gets turned into the map.

I have been doing sci-fi/outer space art for fun for a while.

Here are examples of planets i have already done.

PS: sorry that those were so big, but i can make pics like those or much better ones if you want me to.

Rather than a single planet why not work with our entire solar system?

Each planet as a continents

or even, rather that the space stations surrounding a planet, have 8 solar systems (Real or fantasy) each with a home planet where a player starts out, the have the objective of the map to take over all the home planets.

p.s im flattered that you think highly of me

pss im happy to help out in any way that i can
What do you know about map making, bitch?

Im glad you like them!

I start out all my pics really big, so i can get enough detail into them, but if i used one for a map i could easily shrink it to the size needed.

I like your work, I know you can make interesting maps, lol.
cairnswk wrote:Questions if I may:
Uh, okay.
cairnswk wrote:1. How many terts were you thinking of having?
I really didn't have a vision, the only thing I wanted for sure is the one or few territories per player representing different races and the colonizing the planet.
cairnswk wrote:2. Do you want standard army shadows?
Probably, whatever ends up fitting the art.
cairnswk wrote:3. Do you envision the planet having oceans with dividing continents?
I think so, but it is fine if it doesn't.
cairnswk wrote:4. Do you want a standard RISK type map or are you open to something like hexagons I used in Actium? Or even a combination of differnet styles if they work together?
I want the planet to feel alien, so anything really goes, there could be a section like the hexagonal thing that blends into a normal risk area, although I was thinking more along the lines of the planet being a bit more standard then that.
cairnswk wrote:5. Any preferences for a colour scheme? like white and greys for space ships etc.
Each space ship/station is going to be a different alien race that wants the planet so they probably aren't going to be the same. So I guess my answer is no.

I really want any interested artists to make this like it is their own map.

Telvannia wrote:thanks for putting me on the list, cant say that has happened before :D
I liked the style of art you were doing, and figured you could handle an alien landscape if you wanted.
Telvannia wrote:here is a example of my spacestation graphics,

That looks very human to me, and like a satellite more then a station or ship, but I do like it.
Telvannia wrote:EDIT: Added a quick planet sketch.
I like that, it's more artistic then playable, if you know what I mean, but I like it a lot.

Sorry I hadn't listed you, I listed people who I could recall doing landscape type work that really impressed me, but those planets are really awesome. I'm not concerned to much about the size of the map as long as it isn't so big that Andy or Keyogi are 100% against it. A good idea would probably be anything that doesn't stretch the forum boundaries, if that makes sense, if not I could elaborate. I'm confident gimil could make any amazing image into a good map, especially if DiM was willing to help mesh his boarders together with the image.

That's possible.

That sounds like a total war situation, which I also like, but that presents a completely different set of challenges. Not really the theme I had in mind, but my main concern was the 'Conquest' game play.
gimil wrote:p.s im flattered that you think highly of me

Well, I think you could probably do as much as we want, I'll wait for more discussion to happen to see what interests people more and which artists are interested and then we can get something more organized going on.

this sounds like johloh's pirate map idea. I hope johloh comes back and finishes his and I think your idea is good too.

I don't know if I'll enjoy this style, but I know there'll be a group of people that will. maybe a whole slew of these maps will be around this time next year.

We could make this into a big collaberation map.
That seems like it could get really fun to make.

I could make the planets, moons, and stars.
Telvannia could make the space stations.
Coleman could get the basic layout down.
And then we would need one person to bring everything together and make it into a map.
And another person to write the XML.

So:

Planets, moons, stars: wcaclimbing.
Space stations: Telvannia
Country/continent layout: Coleman
Making the final map: [insert someones name here]
Writing the XML: [insert another name here]

Good idea?

Well i must say that you must have some rules in Map ideas, several times i open some topic, and i just read something like these"What you think of these idea,i realy hope that someon create these". I think that if these start to going in these direction we will have 200 topic with no point, and you must have some rules to people dont open topic if dont want to create maps.
