TV Miracle Products - you know you love them!

Post by luns101 »

I don't know how the marketing of miracle products works in other parts of the world, but here in America they are pretty funny! Watch TV for only and an hour and you'll eventually see that one product which you just know is a joke, yet it is put forth with such fervor that you can't help but ask, "perhaps it actually will change my life if I purchase it!"

Have you ever been gullible enough to buy one, and how did it work out for you? You may need to post a picture as that product will be unique to whichever country you hail from.

Some of these should show how old you are as well. :D

the only infomercials i've seen are for steak knives, food processors, etc. that are simply too good to be true, like the Miracle Blades that can actually saw through a leather boot, or the Magic Bullet that can blend concrete (so much for the BlendTec blender eh?) my mom bought a Magic Bullet (about $100 with tons of extra stuff offered on the infomercial), and although it's not as excellent as shown on TV, it is pretty reliable....not bad at all in fact
as for my favorite, it goes to the clapper. if i have a credit card or debit or something, i'd definitely buy it if i see the number on TV

Oh my! I would really like to hear some Thigh Master stories. Would anybody be willing to admit to buying that?

I don't think Head-On is an informercial, unless I've only been seeing the shorter versions...

anyway my favortie would be anything from that bearded guy that tries to sell Oxyclean
Image
I just crack up anytime I see him, especially if he's selling some spinnoff product by the same company... and the way he sells it... its like he's yelling at you

and kinda off-topic but I've also noticed these groups of commercials about phone-dating... they get annoying cuz there are so many companies that try to sell it to you, but there is one specifically, Interactive Male that makes me rofl everytime

"I'm smart!"
"I'm athletic!"
"I'm... interesting!"

Oh goodness, the spray on hair is pretty incredible, but I'm following Hitman's lead and going with the Magic Bullet--it really works!!!

My father-not-in-law bought it one sleepless night with the special two-for-one offer. He gave us one of the sets. It's more or less as wonderful as it appears on the infomercials with just one problem: the blades go dull after about 100 or 150 margaritas.

The worst TV miracle products are sold by televangelists. "This handkerchief is infused with the love, wrath, and healing power of G-AWHD! When you use this rag to blow your nose and mop your brow, G-AWHD will smite your enemies, fill your bank account, and put an inground swimming pool in your backyard. All this for the special, one-time introductory offer of a $19.95 lovegift."

Good one...I totally forgot about Tony Little. Geico actually used him for a parody. I guess even Tony Little knows he shouldn't take himself too seriously.

I've kept meaning to buy this stuff ever since I first saw the adverts, whenever it was when they first came out. Does it really work?

according to the wikipedia article for Head-On, it is mostly wax. in fact, it's simply sort of like a placebo. and MY GOD the commercials..shows how repetition can cause headaches and later, insanity (the clip can be played over and over and simply merged into one commercial)

Thanks for that. Never heard of it over here, but I'm sure there will be some variant of the same thing that I'll see in the local stores.
