Comments about specific areas or general points of interest
Idea:

Player should try to conquer the territory of one while avoiding the other
ethnic groups.

Army bonuses should be calculated this way.

2x(nmb of ter. of one of ethnic groups player owns the most) - (nmbr of ter. of other ethnic groups)
note: mixed lands consisting of largest player's group offer no bonus or penalty!

if player owns all the territory of one ethnic group he get +10 army bonus

p.s. i need help finishing this map if someone could put major rivers and mountines as barriers on map
and does anybody knows is it even possible to calculate the bonuses in above described manner

I have a new idea for a map, a map for the level "Lockout" from Halo 2. I've never made a map before so I was wondering what tips you veteran map-makers have, and also what program would be good to make maps (using windows vista).

a graphics software is all you need ;)

XML coding isnt important to start with you can get someone to pick up on that later.

1. All you need is a software package(found in the map maknig tools link)
2. an origonal idea(check development atlas to see whats being done)
3. A little time a patience

Pacman

Pacman

I was just thinking that a Pacman styled map would be cool were the yellow dots could attack each other, the monsters would all be a continent as well as the big red dots in the corners.

Okay, I'll try to work on that, but it may be awhile. I am away at work right now and will not have access to a scanner for a month or so.

Right, I use Gimp and Paint.NET on my personal computer, but I do not have my PC with me here for the summer and am using a company PC onto which I cannot download anything. If you're interested, you can find sections of an old Philmont topographical map (from which my map will be based) here.

The Aztec Empire

Im thinking that everything would revolve around Tenochtitlan.

Maybe have some other tribes under Aztec rule but trying to find a good time rebel when lo and behold the spanish arrive.

Here is a map of the empire
