I want to keep Eris. If only because its the biggest thing out there (bigger than pluto). Eris should be the one that gets taught to school kids. Pluto isn't as significant (from an astronomy point of view any way... its cultural value is pretty high). In any case I'd like to keep it.

On some level Eris' participation in the region isn't that big a deal. ( think anyway). because if you want to secure the KB your unlikely to leave eris to your enemy to have a back door attack. The only thing i can think of is that in a no cards team game you could shelter a weak ally there if its not part of the KB. (or i suppose a weak opponent in a assassin or terminator can be sheltered as well)

So I must insist Eris stay. I can include into the continent if i change the continent to trans-neptunian objects. (and no i don't know if thats spelled right but i'll check). I had it that way for a while but i changed it back to Kuiper belt because my plan to break up TNO into plutinos, and kuiper belt sub-bonuses wasn't working.

Another choice is to replace Varuna with Sedna and leave Sedna out of the KB as well, then there will be two "open space" objects at the end of the map. The more i think about it the more i like this option.

I like Eris being left as-is. The last thing we want is people to learn incorrect regions of the Solar System by playing a map that looks correct (though, I guess there aren't any Jump Gates out there in RL). And Eris is part of the Scattered Disc, not the Kuiper Belt.

What if KB is +6? It just doesn't seem right to me giving something so insignificant such a large bonus, especially considering that if you get Neptune then KB you're in a strong position. I can just see a formulaic winning strategy developing into Neptune surface -> Neptune -> KB.

I'm fine with 6. IT would render it unacceptable as a starting continent (especially if the pluto bonus gets scraped)

I guess thats OK because there are six others. One for every one! In fact that might be for the best. I'd hate the player who gets Neptune to be a shoe in to win after securing the Kuiper Belt.

Changes:
- Adjusted Large map coordinates
- Swapped Varuna for Sedna and made it "open space"
- Updated the bonus structure. Best compromise (erring on the side of simplicity.)
- Moved Charklo and Trojan Camp to space out some connections.
- Adjusted position of some army circles.

Tasks Included in next update v0.10.2(THIS LIST IS UPDATED UNTIL THE NEXT VERSION)
- Make Small Map
- Pixel Tweek Large map coordinates (moon up 1, J HO down 1)
- change the key to read "Neptune, Moon & Trojans" for consistency
- align the indented sub-continent bonus further right so it starts in line with the first character of the main continent bonus
- the yellow font is a little bright on Saturn. I'll see if i can dial them back and still keep them matching the rest of the text.
- space all names from army circles them away from the army circles a bit.
- On Saturn, the words "Equatorial" and "Southern" are not level. The ends of the words drop off. Same with "S. Polar Region" on Jupiter.
Venus and Mars (and perhaps Mercury) overlap their respective army circles. They need to be separated slightly (like the Earth and Moon).
- N. TEMPERATE BELT
The bold part is lower than the rest on this Jupiter territory label. URANUS' HIGH ORBIT Same thing.
- JUPITER'S LOW ORBIT
The S appears to be a font sized bigger than the rest or something.
- GREAT RED SPOT Same thing. The lines also don't look level within this territory name, but that could just be an optical illusion caused by this problem.
- S. TEMPERATE BELT This doesn't look even within itself at all when you look closely, same with
- S. POLAR REGION and N. POLAR REGION (especially the first) when you look closely.

- More Pixel Tweeking of map coordinates

The refined legend is a nice improvement. One little suggestion would be to align the indented sub-continent bonus further right so it starts in line with the first character of the main continent bonus.

I don't have time for much now, but it's looking great. Main thing I noticed: change the key to read "Neptune, Moon & Trojans" for consistency (and then you can reduce the legend size.

I agree.......once the small map is made it should move to Final Forge.

You need to fix saturn. A bonus of 4 and it can be protected from 1 border.

At least 2. and 4 if you dont have the gate. and its mid sized. and its hard to take (from the gate) without splitting an army.

Move Jupiter's high orbit coordinate down one pixel, and the moon up one pixel.

In the legend, if it is ordered by distance from the sun, Kuiper belt and Neptune should switch places. If ordered by colour similarity they're perfect how they are (i'm not sure what you intended).

Im looking forward to playing on this map.

I debated that and went with color similarity to ensure that the two greenish ones were nest to each other. I figured side by side it would be easier to make the distinction. As a further bonus, the Kiuper Belt is Trans-Neptunian so all of those objects could, indeed, be between the solar orbits of Neptune and Uranus

The Kuiper belt should not be confused with the hypothesized Oort cloud, which is a thousand times more distant. The objects within the Kuiper belt, together with the members of the scattered disc and any potential Hills cloud or Oort cloud objects, are collectively referred to as trans-Neptunian objects (TNOs).


from wikipedia's article on trans-Neptunian objects
is any object in the solar system that orbits the sun at a greater distance on average than Neptune. The Kuiper belt, Scattered disk, and Oort cloud are names for three divisions of this volume of space.

One would normally suggest that the Kuiper Belt objects are out past the orbit of Neptune. But its not always true. the Plutinos especially. In any case I've ordered them on the key for maximum clarity.

Bump.

Actually, the yellow font is a little bright on Saturn, but fine on the space background. Having those names so long could be part of the reason.
