Transformers Movie
I realize it just came out, but I saw it with the advance showing 8:00pm on July 2nd. What does everyone think?
I personally think it was an absolutely great movie. Sure, the actors aren't going to win any awards and the plot was pretty basic (it is only the first movie, the second is in the works already) but it was in my humble opinion one of the better action movies I've seen in a long time.
Shia Lebeaf (sp?) did a wonderful job, and I didn't mind the somewhat cheesy humor at points, it gave the movie a feel like the old cartoon did, with some humor and whatnot.
In the end, the best part about it was the actual robots. I thought they did a great job with them despite what all of the detractors say in that they look to modernized. I think they fit perfectly into a modern redition of this movie.
Anyways, I have lots more to say, but post your thoughts folks, it was a great movie!!!

Haven't seen it yet, but am going to soon. I used to love transformers, had all the action figures. My fave was buzz, but he was real old-school.

Yeah, I'm looking that up on wikipedia through Bad Robot productions.
EDIT: It's for a movie project called "Cloverfield," though that isn't the title of the movie. There's little details about it, but I'll keep digging.
Back On Topic, the movie was fantastic. Now I could try to sit here like one of the LotR fanboys and pick it apart, but really it was pretty damn perfect. A couple of details were changed, but it really was a great experience for a complete Transformers fan like meself.
Only complaint: The Transformers Theme cover was not played during the movie at all.
Second not-a-complaint-but-it-would-have-been-cool-type-of-thing: During the big fight between Optimus and Megatron (not a spoiler because you know its gonna happen), they should have played "You Got The Touch" from the G1 Transformers movie, or at least had Megatron give Optimus the same response to that iconic line "One shall stand, and one shall fall." which would have been "Die, Autobot!"

Not a real spoiler but there are somemovie details.
My only gripe was the "let's get the non-professionals to do the job of the professionlas" thing. The part with the civilians hackers helping the defense dept could've been totally left out imo. Not as bad as the eight year old in Jurassic Park but still annoying none the less.

Words are, of course, the most potent drug used by mankind
ok I haven't seen it yet, but I don't think it will be very good (this is just based on the fact that movies based on well established franchises have been really bad thus far) on the other hand I want it to be good cuz I have been watching transformers since G1.

Actually, the little stereo guy they're referring to is Frenzy, who reminds me of one of Soundwave's mini-dudes: Rumble.
I think that this so-called "aircraft carrier" character that Bay is planning for the sequel is going to be Tidal Wave.

Optimus Prime wrote:That would be pretty cool if it was. I have also heard rumor that Soundwave will actually be in the sequel as well as Unicron with James Earl Jones as the voice.
I vote for Maurice LeMarche as the voice of Unicron, he is after all the man who does the impersonations of Orson Welles all over cartoons and TV.

lduke1990 wrote:wait are they bringing in Primus too? lol, but yeah robo penetration... wow that was a day
Well, depending on the continuity (G1, Marvel Comics, etc.), Primus is the core of Cybertron. Since Cybertron is "dead," they need not bring him into it.
