Best players of all-time

Post by Swimmerdude99 »

Who are your top 5 or 10 in order or not in order?

Donelledan
Cheffed
Josko.ri
mc05025
rcfritz
jdmcinty

Each for their own reasons, but most of them being fierce, team/poly players that can always seem to make it happen. Who is that player that first comes to mind?

As far as active players, I feel Don is the most capable on all maps, settings and game types, that I've ever come across.

I think to be a truly good player, you must also be a good TEAM player.

Donelladan is always the first person that comes to mind when this question comes up. He's not only a fantastic player, but he's also humble and willing to actually listen to his teammates. He will take the time to explain why a move is more or less logical and without making you feel stupid or that your ideas are invalid.

Fyrdraca is another that I always think of immediately. He's the best teammate I've ever had. He encouraged me to speak up and share my thoughts, even if they may not be brilliant. He's kind, considerate, incredibly smart and funny, and is honestly just a joy to play with. He taught me a basic concept that I still hold dear and follow in my games; to take the roll despite the odds if the reward outweighs the risk. During Covid times when I was in A^, we'd have poker games where we would all get together on a Zoom call and create a table on Pokerstars.net and compete. There were a few times when Fyrdraca was kind of hiding in the laundry room with his computer so as not to wake his wife and kids, and he kept finding little toys and things to entertain us with. Sometimes when I'm down, I think of that and smile. :-)

Hmmm

I agree Don and Josko are up there for sure. To be one of the best of all time you gotta be able to play everything. Poly, teamgames, but also multiplayer, assassin, etc and those 2 can play any setting and have a good shot at it. mc0525 is certainly a great player maybe not as versitile as the first 2 but could be considered in the top for sure. But Cheffed only played team and bot games and jdmcinty does not have enough games to be up there imo.

I would add Rockfist to the list. Capable in many settings as well,

I do not know much about the old timers tho

I have played with and against Josko many times.

When he is on his game, he is unstoppable.

Active players not in ACES:
Josko.ri
Donelladan
Rockfist
Shoop76
Swimmerdude99

Probably in that order. Josko is so good when he's at 100%. Scary stuff

I hope to hear from some old-heads. I know there are players I faintly remember like Big Whiskey, downfall, etc that don't seem to pop up as much anymore/at all.

It's worth noting that this does specifically callout players who play all types of settings. Similar to what Traf, outline above, I do think that lense will bias towards certain players. In my head, I was somewhat thinking team games/poly players as my heaviest bias.

There's of course a disparity in skill between game modes. Another "subset" of modes not even considered would be freestyle/speed. Though I suppose most on this list can compete in that arena as well. (not in my original list though)

Does rockfist actually do much other than team games? I guess I just haven't noticed, if so. (maybe he's beat me into oblivion too many times, so I've scratched it from my memory  )

Also, I'm honored to appear on someone's list, but I really doubt I'm actually that much of a standout. Just a name you might see around a good bit, and I definitely can handle my own on most games/maps. I'm not sure I'm the highest performer.

The first three I think of are Josko, Don, and Blitzaholic.

Past that, Fyrdraca and mc05025 would maybe round out my top 5.

I'm looking at peak level, none are anywhere near those peaks now, except maybe Don.

Fyrd is a great callout. While I don't see him as often in other game types, I know I have seen him standard games/1v1s/tourneys etc. Not been lucky enough to play with him nearly at all.

Don is scary stuff because he does not play for points at all and has general rank all day long. It does not make any sense tbh to be at general rank if you do not play for points like he does and basically play everything , all maps on 1vs1 or teams. Seeing it first hand.

My list is actually about versatility. I could be in a match of any settings against my list and they'd be a threat. I would say there are better team players than those on the list, I'd say there are better map specialists for sure. But if there was a tournament of random settings and random players I vote that of the active players on the site these five would stand up there.

If you want old heads... again no ACES

Does Blitz not get any consideration due to the scandal? Heard he was just in Atlanta and came up on the Jumbo-tron..

Josko is the number one player in my time, versatile, clinical and a complete gentleman in defeat. Also despite early efforts on my part he is completely immune to dirty talk. Great Ollie was much liked but a steaming hot head, one of the worst losers and very easy to wind up which flawed his game. Too many good players to mention but I’m sure a poll would give Josko the true ‘conqueror’ accreditation.
The worst player is debateable but down to years and years of consistent utter hopeless piss-poor play I would award Bax with the wooden spoon.

Been spreading the good word since 2007 on the site... You just caught wind of this? Did you just stumble into the forums? Maybe you should put me in C&A, that will sort me out!

I don't have the right complexion for the Trump connection... Keep it real, por favor...

Losing control of your bowels and bodily functions aside, I accept your nomination for greatest player on the site and I truly thank you for the recognition and adoration. The black jesus shall reward you with his dice hack for the next 78 hours. Go forth and mow down thine enemies, like a roomba in big wham's room, sucking up discarded pistachio shells on his dust bunny covered floor. the black jesus loves you... P.s.-FULL DISCLAIMER: General Cod, i adore you!!!!

AS OF TODAY DON IS NO LONGER SCARY STUFF BUT JUST CONQ :D :D 8-) 8-)

AND HE IS NOW "SCARED SHITLESS STUFF"!!

"Scared Shitless": stands out as a rare indie horror the opponent feels

Scared shitless stuff also rank means: "No one is safe. All Extremely terrified; Everybody overcome with fear, Shites & Very frightened"
