After the announced major "infrastructure revamp" that happened (Monday I guess?), the Scenario "Da Bit Of A Problem" is almost impossible to win. Somehow now the AI "DaBit" plays differently, going towards the player much sooner than before. More specifically, it attacks from UWS to Midtown, leaving the player no territory to attack and remain stealth besides Flushing Station, a path which also leads to a premature encounter the next round (via Flushing).
Previously, a reliable strategy to win is to stay undetected for as long as possible, moving from the starting Astoria Station to Astoria, and then moving south 1 territory per turn towards East New York or Ozone Park, gathering 15-20 troops and then wiping the bot's eastern cluster around Queen's Village. The western cluster (from UWS) always marched north and never attacked Midtown until much much later in the game, giving the player time to engage 1 cluster at a time every 3-4 rounds.
This strategy (or any other) is not feasible anymore, as by taking Midtown in round 1 the bot blocks the Astoria path. And engaging the bot in round 2 means almost certain defeat.
Some solutions could be:
- Fix the AI so the bot does not take Midtown soon (as before the update)
- Move the player's starting position from Astoria Station to, say, Sunnyside / Jackson Heights, or Port Morris / Claremont Village, or Bed-Stuy / Williamsburg
- Reduce the bot's initial troops in UWS from 10 to, say, 5 or 3, or increase the player's.
