Poly Classic Single Elimination (Finals)

Post by prismsaber »

Poly Classic Single Elimination

This is a no-frills polymorphic tournament that will take place on only the Classic map.

Number of Players: 16.

Game Type
: Polymorphic 2,3,and 4 slot games.

Settings: Automatic, Sequential, No Spoils, Chained, 20-turn round limit. No Fog, No Trench.

Important
Community Seeding. Once we have the participants, we will have a college sports style poll to determine the seeds. Submitting a ranking is not mandatory, just an added bit of flavor. You can rank players based on any criteria you want; there's no real objective way to do it. Personally, I'll probably look at the last 30 or so poly results for each player for my submission. I'll accept submissions for 5 days after we have a player field, and will average out the results to determine seeding. You may publicly post your ranking or PM me.

Format: Single Elimination
Round 1: Best of 5: 2 Poly 2's, 2 Poly 3's, 1 Poly 4.
Quarterfinals: Best of 7: 2 Poly 2's, 3 Poly 3's, 2 Poly 4's.
Semifinals: Best of 9: 3 Poly 2's, 4 Poly 3's, 2 Poly 4's.
Finals: Best of 11: 4 Poly 2's, 4 Poly 3's, 3 Poly 4's.

Round 1 and Quarterfinals will be sent in a single batch.

The Semifinals and Finals will be sent in 2 batches, roughly 5 days apart.

Reward: fun, pride, bragging rights, and a Trophy. No cash prize this time. I find offering a prize doesn't increase player turnout.

General Information and Tournament Rules:

I reserve the right to declare a winner of the series before they are 100% completed in the interest of keeping the tournament moving. In that vein, the tournament will move forward asymmetrically. What I mean is Round 2 could start at different times for different players, depending on how quickly the matches resolve.

The way I determine a winner of a game early is I look for a 2-to-1 power score plus a reinforcement advantage.

I will kick players out of the tourney for dead beating, over-the-top stalling, or abusive chat. If possible and if it makes sense we will substitute reserves for players unable to continue.

If you need to postpone a particular round for whatever reason just let me know and we will do our best to accommodate.

In please and thank you!

I definitely think a prize can bring in players. Of course it depends on the prize and if it's good, put it in the title of the tournament lol.

I decided to simplify this tournament due to lack of interest.

I changed it to a 16-person bracket from 32 and shortened the matches. For example, the finals are now best of 11 instead of 15.

I'll calculate the bracket in 24 hours because I've already received more ballots than I was expecting. Some are well thought out honest takes, some look random, and some look purely strategic (nicely done Juke).

Bracket is up, I'll send invites out later today.

Don't take any seedings personally. Half the submissions were clearly random.

Bracket Update.

Congrats to lokisgal and JO Dynasty for advancing to the 2nd round.

lokisgal VS prismsaber is the first determined 2nd round match. I'll make those games shortly.
