Color Blind Mode

Post by morley82 »

Hey there, there's a number of maps which are incredibly hard to play because a lot of territories are indistinguishable to me in color. I really like how we've added letters for armies to designate the side (otherwise this would be unplayable for me) but I'm often seeing 2-3 territories that appear to be the same color and sometimes it's not obvious where one starts and other ends or which one has which bonus.

In my searching, I've found greasemonkey threads here, but it appears that all the links are dead.

what could really help me out is if we could do something like insert an overlay over the regions, ie a black border or perhaps something from hovering, idk.

Just there's a lot of maps out there which are basically unplayable for me and I think we're already on the right track with letters for colors for players and armies, so perhaps we could include some kind of toggle so colortards such as myself can figure out what's going on.

thanks

I agree this should be addressed. Not saying it will be done, or that anything will get done quickly but just maybe we can get a team together to look into it at least.

it's a lot basically any large map with lots of continents will have at least one or two issues

any map that went with artistic choices as well

for example, first nations south america chose a creative pallete but as a result i can't casually tell the difference between two bordering territories in south amazon and eastern forest - really need to focus and stare and only then can i notice a minor change in gradient

the other south america map has a lot of "double ups" as well

off top of my head there's

indochina - not really an issue
siege
first nations south america
south america
eurasia, there's a few that i can figure out but are unnecessarily similar and it's a struggle with some like the islands of siberia not knowing which side they belong on and for a while i thought faroe and the other island were separate from nordic until i realized there was no spot for them on the key and it also explained why nordic bonus was 5

can add more as they come up - there's definitely more

I'm colorblind as well, I have the most trouble with the darker shades, putting the letter in front of the armies was the biggest help for me, without that, I couldn't play. Like cyan and neutral were basically the same color.

Anyway. I've basically gotten used to the game other than that, but I can help with feedback if needed.

Braille enables blind and visually impaired people to access written information and communicate effectively. I have seen it on monitors for other games, perhaps CC can do something similar... The black jesus has spoken...-Jesus noir
