Pay2Play

Post by Craig25 »

With CC dying on it's arse. The way I see it, the Top 3 priorities to save the site are:

1. Attract more Premium Players.
2. Find more Revenue for the Site in order for it to be kept a float.
3. Find more people who are prepared to pay to be a CC Member.

Here is an idea that would help a little in the short Term - MAKE ALL MODS PAY FOR PREMIUM until such times as we can grow the number of paying customers. Why should they get it free when 99% of them have stood idly by, no idea or skills to improve CC and watch Players desert the Site in Hundreds over the last Decade?

I think something far better would be to have an ultra-premium level that costs more but has extra bonus features. One that comes to mind is they get to paddle your ass with a cricket bat. I'm pretty sure the site would be far more solvent if they did that rather than charge the good people who help run the site for almost free.

I would pay 15 buks extra for ultra premium to paddle Craig his but 5 times for saying something like that :D . Problem would be that after the first paddle his ass would be in 1000 pieces..

But the site should get Anila8 onboard and get his system of auto-invites made accessible to all good tourneys. That would save CC bigtime and make it a huge succes. Any tourney that depends on hand made invites is to die sooner or later. Unbelievable that a member like Anila8 has all the answers and nobody from CC has noticed it...so i get Graig25 on one side.

i'm assuming this is a joke, but there is no way you'd ever ask the few people keeping this site playable to pay for premium. they dont even get paid and you want them to pay for working lol

The quality of Chat in this site is the worst. You could bore me into it within a couple of posts for free.

Go and get yourself a Roll and Sense of Humour for your Lunch Wee Man :D

I think the assumption / premise is faulty, I’ve been around since 2010. I started volunteering my time before I was a moderator I think in 2012?

It took about a year of continuous volunteerism before I got added to the team, in 2013 I got my colors and premium paid. There was a short break as well around 2018, but I came back I think full time around 2020/2021 ish and volunteered again.

But in that time I’ve spent nearly $400 directly on CC, in gifts and premiums etc mostly for other people out of pocket. That doesn’t include another $100 I put up of my own cash for a grand prize while I was volunteering and other assorted things. If you do the math and ignore the time I was away, $500 / 15 years is basically me getting free premium only to buy it for others anyway out of pocket (average $33+ per year) I’m sure I’m not the only mod who also pays.

Just Bcuz we get premium doesn’t mean we aren’t already contributing. You’re unhappy with the state of things, I get it. I don’t know a mod still around that is really happy with the state of things.

But going after the handful of individuals who are still around doing something isn’t really beneficial. Saying they aren’t doing anything when most of the things that need being done are not within their power to do is silly.

There is one owner here, one coder. Even the second admin only does what the owner is requesting of him to cover. The mod team takes their own time to improve (and yes, their money too) and help make this place and community better.

Chasing them off when there’s so few willing to step up is just silly. It’s easy to point out the stuff that’s wrong, I know Bcuz sometimes I get caught up in that too. Instead I encourage you, and anyone else who likes this place and wants to improve it to use the energy to improve it like you have with your tournament and direct the criticism towards something / someone that’s actually able to make change.

Any change mods can make is largely superficial. Any change team leaders can make is largely organizational. Real change that would improve the site to the level everyone wants to see really only comes from above any moderators pay grade. And that change has become much harder and slower to get done. It might appear like people are sitting around doing nothing. The truth is much closer to people have been suggesting and discussing and debating change for years only to see that change at a snails pace and most things have been discussed to death and just needs to happen. But it doesn’t. After awhile, it’s hard to keep that same energy towards improvement and change when it rarely / almost never happens and you are unable to really make much change yourself.

We try, but CC is very top down with most of the weight of improvements needing to come from the top. And that’s nearly disappeared so we do what we can

i really wish there was some way to advertise maybe being something simple like insta or TikTok. would be fun to get the young crowd like myself into risk like the rest of us. there defiantly things like the site crashing the aggravate me. but overall this is my favorite place to place any games online. i hate to see the downfall in players overtime. wish we were able to capitalize off of covid but sadly wasn't able to keep many players. i really wish i had more time to dedicate to CC but with work i barely have time to play my 20 turns a day.
