CC strategy around Foeing sucks - Eventually even a few players who play many multiplayer games foeing you can leave you unable to join many or most multi-player games. This has caused me to ;leave the site previously. Having set-up like contending site where foeing player just disallows them from joining your games rather than all games they are in leaves a more equitable outcome. A few AH can ruin everyone's game and harm the site the way foeing is set up here.

I have to agree with you....but that would require someone to make not only a decision, but to actually change the coding. Not sure if anyone who may have that expertise to do the required changes.

3,547 … this really is piss poor isn’t it.

To not take advantage of the COVID influx and drop back further than ever is a clear example of the game being left to fizzle out and die.

Well ... in the last week we,ve gone back up nearly 100 :-k multi tastic  3,630 ....normally I would be pleased, but i'm more suspicious than pleased, which says a lot.

In regards to reaching the 1000 on the running scoreboard for the month, what has been failed in the last few months consecutively continues in this fashion but this time in a way that didn't ever look in doubt.

3,627 one month on we're pretty much the same, which is better than recently add to that we went over the 1,000 for the first time in a few months. =D>

If you click on show unqualified players, it gives you an idea of how many active players there are here

for August 2024, that number is 3387

Which shows me there are 160 accounts classed as active that did not finish a game in August.. Time to do some multi hunting

Since 2010 the internet has turned into a different beast and there are thousands of games with whistles and buzzers to attract new players. Conquer Club is an old school internet game based on an old school board game. The pace is as easy as you want and that will always appeal to and attract a faithful crowd who don't want to spend big bucks to buy additional weapons to stay competitive in a game.

That plus a lot of people left, including myself because they got tired of the unrandomness of the dice.

Yeah, we need something more rigid. The rigged randomness that favors 50% my opponents 50% of the time is outrageous.

I only came back after 19 months away because I noticed on a bank statement that cc had been taking money from my account all that time.

So, I thought I'd play a few games maybe get back into it over the winter. Problem is nobody joins games. I only play risk type maps and normal risk settings. The same games filled within hours last time I was here.

The site is 100% dying. The problem is the deviation of the game and maps of risk. The very thing that brings people here. I'm sure everyone of us found this site by googling 'online risk'.

As a dying business something needs to be done to salvage it. If I was the owner I'd have a massive cull of every non risk type map and some of the settings because It's definitely going to die with the present format. Just a matter of how soon.

This seems like a real possibility. Some games I can barely take a 1-army terr, with that happening round after round.

This is so out of touch. If you were to do that, most of the current people that play regularly and keep the site alive would leave. If your proposition is true, though, it would take one hell of a "risk" ;) to try and bring the site back. At the cost of all the clans, tribes and tournaments that keep most of the hardcore players here.

I didn’t come by googling risk, and I stayed because of the large variety of maps and settings. While maybe I’m not the usual, I definitely wouldn’t say it’s everyone that stumbles here.

Funneling new players into a handful of specific smaller maps might be an idea but again for how long until they get full access etc

I like the variations of the maps.

I got here by googling risk, but that was in like 2007, so yeah.

I agree with you that's it out of touch with the site. And there lies the problem. The site discourages new players because of what it's become.

At it's peak there was only risk type maps and settings. Poor risk players needed an angle. So they changed the game and added settings completely out of touch with the board game.

I'd go for my suggestion if I was the owner. I doubt many of the clan world would actually leave. They like their little clans and clan friends. It would be like a reset for the clan world too. A whole new playing field to see who's the actual best risk playing clan and not dreary game after game of gimmick maps and settings.

It's only a matter of time before it dies anyway. Might as well have one last throw of the dice

If what you want to play is standard risk, you would just play the official risk game. Realistically, the target market for CC is people who have already played the existing risk game but want more variety and deeper challenges. You probably need some of the YouTube guys to come try and like this, but it's also not very set up for that, the best gameplay on CC is turn based foggy team games, hard to market on YouTube.

Business 101 Response:

If you can locate the necessary capital, increase your Brand Awareness Marketing budget.

Of course, you will need (and want) to be ready to respond to the increase in traffic.

N.B. I am NOT personally advocating such a course. Small and declining can be nice.

Perhaps it is better to revel in the forlorn poetry of being among the last of the Atlanteans, ... as the tiny remnant isle of our soon-lost continent sinks forever beneath the waves.
Admittedly, this post has strayed considerably from the 'all-business' tone I was originally attempting to affect.

The peak during the pandemic, and the sharp drop off thereafter, implies that the site currently would not be able to retain significant numbers of users gained through awareness marketing.

Its pretty simple what you need to do with very little budget.

Make a new site with only the best maps in high definition. Keep the old site too. Subscription paid = acces to both sites.

The new site will attract new players and the old site just needs to keep the old players.

The old site feels like we are in 2007 for ever.

Interesting idea. I would add that the NEW site needs to be totally phone compatible, which may alter which maps are used and made available.
