I hear you red bull, but let me add this:
1. Yes, pray absolutely...but be specific in your prayers.
2. Get counsel: either from a pastor/priest/church group.
3. Be accountable: get a partner or a group of people that you can be specifically accountable to.
The devil can pick anybody off one by one and not one of us is immune. United, any sin can be defeated through encouragement & accountability.

In response to Anglican's post: Some agnostics choose to follow a specific power, take the Wiccan philosophy for example, but I am different. I am not willing to accept that the christian concept of god can exist. I therefore believe in either one or many higher powers which effect the world, although there is nothing specific because then it would just be some other bullshit religion that people could stone me as a non believer and worshiper or false idols. So I keep it ambiguous to keep the most devout off of my back.

To me you sound most of all like a theist, lduke. There is a god or several gods but we don't know anything specific about this god or gods.
Agnosticism as it is defined in the strong sense means that we cannot know whether god(s) exist or not. In the weak sense an agnostic can also be someone who either takes no stance on the question of the existence of divine beings or has considered the question but has not been able to come to a conclusion.
Just clearing up a little terminology that often gets people confused.

Yeah, that's what I tought as well. I've heard it referred to (in this forum perhaps) as weak atheism due to the stance that there may be a possibility of a higher power where atheism flatly denies any such thing.
But hey lduke it's your belief system; call it what you want
You may find this website interesting though. Your description of your beliefs reminded me of these folks.

I have to confess, I don't understand the phenomenon. I've never been in a church that included it. I guess my take on it would be that if you see it as a necessary part of your worship then God bless you. It's a part of the faith that I've never been drawn too.
Is our conversation about what divides us or what we agree on? I might have misunderstood.
Our decussion is on first, what do we agree on and second, what do we differ on. Then we move on to decussing the topic in question to further the understanding of it.
Just like how my pastor says the Church should be, "this is a fear-free zone." No judgement, no condemnation, no whiny 'it offends my comfort zone' and absolutely no PC Liberal dibble. Period.

The second sentence on the http://www.deist.com home page says that belief in god..., I flatly renounce the father the son and the holy spirit. I think that it is possible that there be something, but I don't know what it is and I sure as hell don't worship it, that sounds like agnosticism to me...

Creationists for one thing. "The world is 6000 years old" except that we have scientific evidence that it is much older than that.
Those bible thumping fucks who use Lividicus(sp) and Deutorotomy(sp) to say no to gay marriage and rights. God creates all life, if you so believe, therefore God himself allows for homosexual behavior because he has a hand in each person's individual creation.
The fact that the bible was written by regular people.
That is about all I can think of now, I will post more if I think up others
Oh, the whole "Problem of Evil" thing, but you can look that up by yourselves.

No, I'm not saying that regarding the response. You certainly have not offended me, no need for an apology.
Religion can be kind of cool.
Sometimes it sort of helps people put perspective on ideas. The age of the earth is a great example.
If I decide to believe the planet has existed for a certain amount of time and came to be in a particular way, for some reason it makes me feel comfortable.
Personally if I knew how old the earth was it I doubt it would change the flavour of steak, so to me it's meaningless numbers, but I do like to know things so I understand the desire.
When you get people together and they agree on religious ideas it's this wonderfull happy togetherness thing.
It just seems there's allways going to be disagreements. I can't think of anything uglier than the treatment of people when that happens sometimes.
It seems to happen so fast that the people doing it don't notice until after or never notice at all. I've done it, get involved with the 'pack' and attack someone. It's bad enough doing something like that at work or school, but I think it's worse in some church/mosque/temple or what ever.
So I think I understand what you're saying. I've heard so many things people have said thinking they are quoting the bible or that they were taught was in the bible. Often it's nasty things that don't make sense to me as something a tolerant accepting religion should be preaching.

I'm not sure how old the earth is. Scienists tell me it is 3.8 billion years at least, maybe a lot more. I really don't care either. Doesn't help me get through my day or anything to know that. Kinda useless knowledge. Don't get me wrong, science is some cool stuff. But 'pure' science as opposed to 'applied science', AKA: Technology, is much more useful to know about.
Ever read any of Paul's letters? Timothy and Corinthians come to mind.
Sure, written by mortals on tangable paper with physical ink, but inspired by something supernatural. Hence why you're having such a hard time with this simple concept, your relying a bit too much on the natural.
I'll come back for the rest later.
