EW's Semi-Open Matrix Madness
With overwhelming support for the Matrix, we're playing a semi-open. Here is the matrix again.

Edit day 3 Alive players:
Strike Wolf
Devante
pmchugh
Votanic
Kingm
kongming3
*pixar*
Maxleod
Ragian
Charle
Fusibaseball
I will announce a day deadline when I feel like it's been enough to not steer too far away from CC climate.
With 15 alive, it takes 8 to lynch. Role PMs doing out now

Confirm.
Still processing the complexity.
Right now, the only two things I remember are
1. It's extra-easy to mislynch, so Vote No Lynch.
and
2. Scum are going to be talking behind our backs constantly.

Re: EW's Semi-Open Matrix Madness
Confirm
So for us to know exactly which row or column we are playing, 2 of the 3 town power roles would probably need to die to be sure, since it says that scum would only show alignment.
Hmm and there is a lot of duplicat roles here, so this will be a fun extra puzzel to try to solve while also trying to find the scum at the same time, interesting, I'm happy that this won the vote.

Confirm and vote Votanic because voting no lynch in the first post is super cringe.

Re: EW's Semi-Open Matrix Madness
This setup should change our priors on lynching and claiming. I thought last game was actually very good from conversation gathering evidence but like, us getting someone like you from the last game is very unlikely to happen without someone making a real full case, unless there is a tracker and they get lucky. Claiming should also be a last resort because there is no consistent protection either.swang918 wrote:So there is no cop?
Final point, make sure you have read the "important notes" section on the OP. We won't know mafia roles on death, and some roles are non consecutive and some stop working with one mafia left.

Re: EW's Semi-Open Matrix Madness
I fully intend to unvote my 'no lynch'... WHEN/IF I HAVE GOOD REASON!pmchugh wrote:Confirm and vote Votanic because voting no lynch in the first post is super cringe.
Contrast that with all the ways to carelessly mislynch in this set-up.It's even theoretically possible with a single vote.
For example, if the day ended right now, there would be a 50% I would be lynched (Gee, thanks PMC)
...and then, after everyone discovers you lynched a Townie, your own scum-reading would be at a deservedly all-time high.
Even higher than last game, nevermind that you actually happened to be Town.
So, a FOS at PMC, but not a vote, because at this point, that would be irresponsibly bad-towny/scummy.

Re: EW's Semi-Open Matrix Madness
I'm just wondering if there might be a mathematical way of devising an optimal pattern of role uses for town.
I observe there are 15 green placings on the matrix, and 15 players in the set up.
It might be possible to predetermine a sequence of what each "power" town role would do each night.
I think it would be complicated and difficult to maintain.
And I'm not sure about it at all.
Just throwing the germs of an idea out there rather than argue myself out of an idea...

Hmm maybe, I think it would be hard, and we would also give away info to the scums if we try to do so.Loose Canon wrote:I'm just wondering if there might be a mathematical way of devising an optimal pattern of role uses for town.

I looked at the matrix again, and realized that because of all the dupes, 2 dead townies with power roles, would not actually give us the row or column, thats crazy, all 3 need to be dead or known to find the exact right row/column.
I also have a feeling that this might be a hard game for us townies, the few possible power roles does not seem very powerfull at all, but atleast we have 12-3 advantadge to start.
Probably a noob question from me, but if the scum gets 2 goons, does that mean that they get 2 kills every night? Because if thats the case, then we would know after N1 if 2 players wore killed, that the scum also had a roleblocker, since every goon in the matrix has a scum roleblocker in the same row/column.

Re: EW's Semi-Open Matrix Madness
I see that we're not even a full page in and already Vot is overreacting to a joke vote and people are already talking about the way the game is constructed. I'll admit that I'm not really 100% sure I've figured out how this set up works yet, myself.
Vote King because I don't believe in a feudal overlord.

Mafia has one factional mandatory assigned kill. @Vot I will also not randomly decide to end the game, players will have time (couple of days minimum) to change their vote.Kingm wrote:Hmm maybe, I think it would be hard, and we would also give away info to the scums if we try to do so.Loose Canon wrote:I'm just wondering if there might be a mathematical way of devising an optimal pattern of role uses for town.
