A former policy adviser to both Rice and Harris disputed the sources in comments to Axios.

Those in attendance at the volatile meeting aboard Air Force One in late January 2023 later vented that Biden’s frustrations over the issue have made it increasingly difficult to reach decisions about the border, Axios said.

“There are definite incentives … to not be the person who owns the scary issue with no solutions,” a source said.

“If you’re the person briefing the president, you get to piss him off every day,” the source said.

Adding to the debacle is the fact that Harris has missed “an opportunity” to demonstrate her leadership during the crisis, sources said.

“She’s been at best ineffective, and at worst sporadically engaged and not seeing it was her responsibility,” a former senior Biden administration official told the outlet. “It’s an opportunity for her, and she didn’t fill the breach.”
Some current and former Biden staffers also claim that many people in the administration believe Vice President Kamala Harris has failed to help with the crisis.

‘Not Good’: Bill Maher Rips Biden’s Border Crisis

Bill Maher argued that while some immigration is good for the US, the current system is not working positively based on the reaction of sanctuary cities to migrants being bused there.

Maher said “some immigration” is “the lifeblood of this country.”

When Van Jones said immigration is generally good, Maher disagreed, noting the hypocrisy of liberal cities opposing receiving migrants.

Van Jones said, “Immigration is good for America. It’s positive for America.”

Maher replied, “Not the way we’re doing it.”

He continued, “And you would also allow, I would imagine, that the sanctuary cities, the hypocrisy was exposed there. Because when they started to send the immigrants to those cities…some of the most liberal people are like, oh, this doesn’t work for us.”

Jones said, “People have been coming here and gaming our system. That is true. It’s like if somebody figured out a quasi-legal way to jump the turnstiles into the subway, and suddenly now, the subway is full of people who didn’t pay. That’s what’s going on at the border, people are jumping the turnstile. And you need to fix that.”

Jones acknowledged people are “gaming” and circumventing the current border system illegally like jumping subway turnstiles.

Both agreed sanctuary cities did not want to accept bussed migrants.
